To think cats swanning about on work surface/table is gross?

One minute it's in the litter box and the next it's on the kitchen table. Urgh.

But surprises me how many people I know who think it's fine.

Is it just me?

Betty of course! Grin

Sparkling I agree wholeheartedly.

One of my cats is currently asleep on the DINING table! The very thought...

ThatBloodyWoman · 03/08/2015 21:54

I'm a bit of a minger when it comes to housework.
But the cat is not allowed on kitchen worksurfaces.

Whiskwarrior · 03/08/2015 21:54

Page I've taken the moral high ground on many a thread. I've been polite than you could imagine. I have written long, eloquent posts about my cats, how much they mean to me and my children. I've explained how upsetting it can be to read that someone would be quite happy to injure or kill my pets.

Does it make a blind bit of difference? No. I've been laughed at and had people find it highly amusing that they've bothered me.

So, I'm trying a different approach now.

Sparklingbrook · 03/08/2015 21:55

What leads someone to 'despise' cats? Is it something you are born with? I don't like dogs much because one bit me, which seems logical.

mrsdavidbowie · 03/08/2015 22:00

I'm not keen on animals full stop. Just don't feel the love. Had lots when we were kids..and we've had a cat for 11 years.
She's very independent.. Spends 23 hours outside in the garden.
Dd adores her...I tolerate her.

LittleLionMansMummy · 03/08/2015 22:01

Well when I say 'despise' Sparkling it's a bit of hyperbole in my dad's case. Of course he'd never hurt one, he just sees their behaviour as irksome and their existence as 'pets' fairly pointless. Plus he hates them shitting on his garden while sneering at him!

Whiskwarrior · 03/08/2015 22:02

Your t-shirt can say 'cats...meh' MrsBowie

Sparklingbrook · 03/08/2015 22:02

Oh we are back to their behaviour and of course poo Little Grin He hasn't had a nasty bite or a bad experience or anything.

mrsdavidbowie · 03/08/2015 22:03

Lol.

LittleLionMansMummy · 03/08/2015 22:05

No although he was once 'savaged' by a hamster and he can no longer tolerate being in the same room as one Sparkling! Naturally they were my pet of choice when I was growing up Grin

PageNotFound404 · 03/08/2015 22:06

I get that, Whisk. Human nature being what it is though, there will always be some people who get their perverse pleasure from deliberately winding up others and the more you show you care, the more outrageous they'll become to push your buttons. Typical troll behaviour.

GotToFTFO · 03/08/2015 22:06

My cat jump into my bunker to get out the kitchen window, it gets wiped regularly so don't see the issue with germs.
We all have them and germs aren't evil.

Sparklingbrook · 03/08/2015 22:06

I am with him on that one Little. Hamsters are the ultimate in pointless pets. Nocturnal and whiffy and a very short life. Confused

LittleLionMansMummy · 03/08/2015 22:08

As germs go though GotTo, anal germs are pretty foul!

Sparklingbrook · 03/08/2015 22:09

Anal germs? Shock

PageNotFound404 · 03/08/2015 22:10

Hamsters are evil little fuckers. I had hordes of them when I was a kid (I never learned...) then had to go through another influx with my DSD. We had one friendly one between us out of the whole lot. They're not a pet, they're an exercise in insomnia and mortality.

Sparklingbrook · 03/08/2015 22:11

Rabbits and Guinea Pigs don't seem to bring much to the party either. Scrabbly with sharp teeth, and they don't do an awful lot.

MissEeerie · 03/08/2015 22:11

Yanbu. Ugh.

LittleLionMansMummy · 03/08/2015 22:11

Ideal for small children though Sparkling - you can replace them before the child actually realises they're dead! Not that I'd ever do that of course...

BettyCatKitten · 03/08/2015 22:11

Page have to say I agree with your views on hamsters.
Imo cats are much nicer pets. Mine are puurrfect Smile

LittleLionMansMummy · 03/08/2015 22:15

Any views on rats? Apparently they make really good pets... Although probably not at the same time as cats.

DoJo · 03/08/2015 22:15

(There is a boring real reason why cats are drawn to people who don't really like them, but I don't think it explains 2.00am fan invasions!)

Cussedness I believe is the main reason, sometimes known as 'sheer and utter cussedness'.

PageNotFound404 · 03/08/2015 22:15

Rabbits: anti-social and high-maintenance
Guinea pigs: what's the point of a pet if you can't tell their arse from their eyebrows?

LittleLionMansMummy · 03/08/2015 22:17

I know a few people who don't know their arse from their eyebrows Page Grin

Sparklingbrook · 03/08/2015 22:18

No to rats. What do they give back? Confused

Anything that has to live in a cage/tank/vivarium-just no.
