to think Peacocks (the shop) is underrated?

I don't know if this applies everywhere, but round these 'ere parts it's considered to be just about ahead of bon marché in the fashion stakes.

Yet every year I pick up the most amazing, flattering dresses in their sales. They always fit me like a glove and look lovely.

Last night I finally got a chance to wear the dress I picked up in their sale a few weeks back, and I got non-stop compliments all night. Nobody believed it was from Peacocks. It was £7!

AIBU in thinking they don't deserve the bad rep they seem to have?

P.S I don't work for them, honest.

I liked Peacocks and only recently discovered it. But then the lovely new store in the nice shopping centre closed down, and Peacocks moved to a cramped, small store in the rubbish shopping centre with expensive parking.

Yes it does MummyPig

Lots of cheap and nasty things, and rude staff. However if you can get past that, there are bargains to be had.

I lurrrve me some peacocks!
In London there is one by Old Street Station. Evening dress from there is a fab one! Yes you need to hunt between the tat, but some gems to be found!

Weirdly, I've found their boys' clothes are fine, but every item of girls' or womens' clothing I've ever bought from them has shrunk to the point of being unwearable after one wash.

tbtc · 03/08/2015 16:14

I got a couple of nice knickers from there (seam free, just normal pants), and I get quite a bit of the kids' stuff from there if I can't get into the city.

Sparklingbrook · 03/08/2015 16:15

I find it handy for teen DS t shirts/socks jogging bottoms etc.

Our local one is very nicely laid out and v friendly staff.

We also have an M&Co, which I think may be a bit overrated.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 03/08/2015 16:15

I've had quite a lot of good girls stuff from ours, but not much adult stuff, it all looks good on the hanger but much of it is flimsy, badly sewn, cheap scratchy fabric, see through, clingy etc. Have had one or two good things over the years though.

ActiviaYoghurt · 03/08/2015 16:16

SHHHH! everyone will shop there,

tbtc · 03/08/2015 16:18

these are them

tbtc · 03/08/2015 16:18

I agree sparkling, M&Co is very pricey for what is it.

Totality22 · 03/08/2015 16:29

I used to work opposite the Old St. branch and needless to say I was in there a lot..

Although I have quite a few bits and pieces from there (mainly basics like leggings and vests) I certainly wouldn't go out of my way to shop there and I don't massively rate it overall. I do browse when I'm near one and more often than not will leave with something even if it is just more leggings

I find the kids stuff (I have a toddler and baby) very expensive though.

RosePetels · 03/08/2015 17:26

I've only ever brought pjs or slippers in there never looked at the clothes, I will next time I am in one.

Sparklingbrook · 03/08/2015 17:27

have you bought much from M&Co tbtc? i am never quite sure who their target market is. They seem to have a permanent sale on too.

Cocolepew · 03/08/2015 17:47

The staff in my local one are lovely.
Has anyone tried the girlfriend jeans?

TheSnufflet · 03/08/2015 18:11

Peacocks is the absolute tits! I've got some amazing dresses/skirts from there. For when Primarni just won't cut it Wink

tbtc · 05/08/2015 11:52

sparkling

I think I've only ever bought kids clothes from there. I sometimes browse the women's clothing and may have bought the odd staple from there, but generally I find it a bit old for me.

The kids stuff I've only bought because they have a shop in town which saves me a trip to the city, but it's expensive unless there's a sale on.

Sparklingbrook · 05/08/2015 11:54

They have Mens' stuff in our one tbtc, and cushions and stuff. There used to be a Dash concession upstairs but not been in lately. they were having a 'Blue Cross Event' yesterday. Grin
