AIBU?

Not feeding guests?

Just wondering if I ABU.

Some friends are throwing a party. It's a big anniversary at a village hall and has been organised for months. They have lots of friends going. Most are having to travel quite a long distance and have booked hotels at £60+ for the night.

A few weeks back guests were told no drinks would be provided. Now it's clear they're not providing any food either.

I'm not really sure what the point is anymore. I would never arrange a party with no food or drinks! Do you think this is unreasonable?

Make out you haven't read the e-mail properly / forgotten exactly what it said and comment on one of her Facebook posts 'ooh we can't wait though, we love a good old knees up with plenty of nosh before boogying the night away'.

SheHasAWildHeart · 14/08/2015 09:53

OP how old are you kids? My DD7 would be a mess if she went to a party without food and esp if we'd travelled 180 miles to get there. I'd make her a little rucksack of snacks and drinks to take with her - sandwich, apple, raisins and a drink. Will there be many other kids there?

ReginaFelangi · 14/08/2015 09:58

My DC are 4 and 6. They're not early risers/early to bed but we'll still only manage and hour or so at the party. Will be taking lots of snacks for them (may make OH wear combats and fill all the pockets).

There were going to be about 15 kids around that age, but I don't know how many will be going now. I know one family has dropped out as their child will be howling for bed by 8pm.

I'm hoping the party is this weekend and the OP gives live updates. AIBU?

PaperdollCartoon · 17/08/2015 22:02

Truly shocking. And just want to say it's definitely not a generational thing, I'm 27 and would never do this. This kind of party has food no matter how old you are! Heck we're having a small party for DPs birthday on Saturday at our house and I'm doing some food!

MrsWembley · 22/08/2015 11:20

Any updates. Regina?

MrsWembley · 22/08/2015 11:21

I need closure on this dammit!

CadleCrap · 28/08/2015 09:40

The OP said the party was at the end of the month, so it MUST be this weekend.

Hope Op hasn't forgotten s/he started this thread!

Bunbaker · 28/08/2015 09:42

I'm dying to know how this "party" went

MrsWembley · 28/08/2015 20:37

Maybe it's tomorrow then?

bessarabiantiger · 29/08/2015 13:08

I'm hoping for video footage of a mass-brawl in a moshpit over a packet of Quavers.

annatha · 29/08/2015 13:16

Place marking!

Bunbaker · 30/08/2015 15:47

Was the "party" last night? What happened?

SergeantJarhead · 31/08/2015 02:14

I have sacrificed 3 hours sleep to finish this bloody thread, I must, MUST know how it went!!! Come back Op!!!

Squooshed · 31/08/2015 02:17

All the guests are still squabbling over the two crisps that the hosts generously provided.

It's a bloodbath.

Squooshed · 31/08/2015 02:17

A hungry bloodbath.

Rarity08 · 31/08/2015 02:18

Well, there won't be a food fight Grin

SergeantJarhead · 31/08/2015 02:25

The nearest Mcdonalds drive-through will get massacred.

AcrossthePond55 · 31/08/2015 03:37

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 31/08/2015 13:06

Someone pm her

MrsWembley · 31/08/2015 15:12

Maybe it was all too much for the guests and some of them, including OP, fell victim to canabalism...
