Okay so it's a DM link (sorry - I know for that alone I'm BU!).

But AIBU to think Cara Delevingne was really quite rude in this interview?

I was quite shocked really. She's clearly irritated because they got her name wrong, but to pass her rudeness off as 'British humour' is doing a real disservice to us Brits.

It wasn't humour, she comes across as very 'entitled' in MN speak and as if the interviewers are beneath her.

I guess Cara gets the last laugh, it's more publicity for the film than it would have otherwise got. Id never heard of it before this.

Balanced12 · 30/07/2015 06:43

I think she did well the questions were strange and the answers given matched.

If you want bubbly ensure the opportunity is embedded in the question. The female anchor came across as a complete witch.

Cric · 30/07/2015 06:47

Either way.... Job done.... I hadn't heard of the film intil the interview!!

Roussette · 30/07/2015 07:14

Having watched links of the interview, I thought she was extremely patient and the 3 anchors were almost bullying her. Cara just looked puzzled as to what on earth was going on with this interview.

To commence an interview and not even get her name right is pathetic. Not just once either! She gracefully didn't correct them. I think the three of them deserve to be sacked. Is it professional to spend about five minutes slagging off who you have just interviewed? They said she earned too much for doing not much work, she was irritable, why did they bother etc etc. Rude rude rude.

I've watched the whole thing, I thought she was graceful in the face of pathetic interviewing with each anchor chipping in with banal comments. Out the blue one of them with a sneer on their face tells her she looks exhausted. What on earth do you respond to that? You can hardly say "Thanks".

LilyMayViolet · 30/07/2015 07:24

They asked absolutely inane questions. She gave straightforward answers and then lost her patience. I think they came out if it looking far more rude and silly.

LitreOfTea · 30/07/2015 07:46

She didn't give straightforward answers!! She was repeatedly sarcastic, literally every question she was asked she said the opposite of her real answer first. Then rolled her eyes visibly.

NoStannisNo · 30/07/2015 07:49

I think she just thinks she is too cool for this sort of thing - there is a fine line between 'having a sense of humour and a personality' and coming across as a bit of a pillock. As someone above said though, she is being paid a lot of money to star in this film and part of that is this crappy promotion trail. I watched her once on Graham Norton recently and she was very up her own arse and 'acting is my art daaaahhhlin' while at the same time trying to be 'oh.so cool and funny'.

Having said that those presenters were so rude and unprofessional themselves!

She needs to be careful though - compare the career trajectory of Jennifer Lawrence compared to Kristin Stewart.......

McKayz · 30/07/2015 07:53

I don't think she was rude at all. They got her name wrong and asked stupid questions and then were rude to her.

Hygge · 30/07/2015 08:02

From that brief clip, she seems fine to me, they seem quite rude.

And as professional anchors on a TV show, they really ought to get her name right. It's unprofessional and slack to get her name wrong when they are interviewing her.

They started the whole thing off on the wrong foot by not even bothering to learn her name

Also there seemed to be a delay with the sound link that meant she was still listening to their question and then replying a second or two too late after they had asked it, which wasn't her fault either, that's their production issue.

And to keep talking over her between themselves, then saying she sounds irritated, and going on to talk over her again, telling her to go take a nap and ending the interview before she can reply.

And then apparently sneering about her and mocking her accent afterwards.

They were rude and unprofessional.

She seemed fine to me, quite a dry humour but nothing rude about it.

BastardGoDarkly · 30/07/2015 08:21

Nah bollocks, I probably would have bristled at those three too.

Pardonwhat · 30/07/2015 08:32

She seemed bewildered by their complete lack of professionalism and at times she tried to humour them to have it returned with further snarky comments. They didn't even apologise for getting her name wrong! From the start they set out to ridicule her and she handled it very well.
I didn't particularly care for her before but I do now! She's great.

LilyMayViolet · 30/07/2015 08:37

Well honestly, "Did you read the book or the script?" "Would you be more tired if you were less busy?" A pair of idiots! Then that snotty one that joined in at the end "you seemed a lot more excited about the film last month". Yes, she was a little lacking in energy but it was embarrassing watching them "interview" her.

screamingskull · 30/07/2015 08:40

I think she seemed fine, at most she looks confused and wtf at the questions they ask.
Starting off getting someone's name wrong isn't good, then asking if she had read the book with a laugh at the end of the question making it sound as thou Carla can't read, was awful.
I think Carla done well, the questions were awful and asked in a mocking tone every time, no wonder she reacted.

The way the spoke of her once she was off air was absolutely horrid, hopefully they get hauled over the coles for that.

The female anchor did say scoffingly that Carla was not the way most people had envisioned Madge to look. I think she had read the book and was pissed at who was chosen to play this part.

BastardGoDarkly · 30/07/2015 08:47

It's Cara! Grin

Koalafications · 30/07/2015 09:18

I liked her! Blush I do like a bit of sarcasm though, and the questions were stupid so I think they had it coming really. I also think that if you watch her body language she isn't bored, she is listening to each question then thinking how to respond. Unfortunately she doesn't smile into the camera whilst listening, she was looking around which comes across oddly. You can also see her confusion as they ask yet another weird question and she's thinking how the hell to answer this one.

I also reckon she was majorly hungover Grin

rosesanddaisies · 30/07/2015 09:24

Yes, YABU. The anchors were rude and patronising.

Chunkymonkey79 · 30/07/2015 09:26

The anchors were asking pointless, stupid questions, and created an awkward atmosphere. Cara could have dealt with it better though.

lutra3d · 30/07/2015 10:15

I didn't know that she had dyspraxia. Perhaps that explains the look of bewilderment when they were throwing stupid questions at her (and not always allowing her enough time to answer them at the beginning of the interview.)

noblegiraffe · 30/07/2015 10:41

If it was the premiere the previous night, then she was probably knackered. But then why weren't they asking her about that? The first question was did you read the book and the second was weird and I didn't really understand what they were getting at.

Good interviewers don't approach interviews like that. They say stuff like 'I saw photos of you at the premiere last night, you looked amazing! Now the film is based on the book, did you read the book before filming or did you not want it to influence your interpretation?'

Not what they did, which was more 'Hey Carla, did you even read the book?'

squoosh · 30/07/2015 11:02

She was fine, they were twats.

squoosh · 30/07/2015 11:03

They were a bit Mean Girls about it all.

The premiere was the night before, it was quite emotional and there she was up early. It seemed to me there was a delay in the audio feed so her answers weren't as snappy as the three anchors expected. If we are talking about being professional I think the female anchor was hostile from the start and part of Cara's 'bratty behaviour" was tiredness mixed with a dry sarcastic sense of humour.

hiddenhome · 30/07/2015 11:27

The anchors came across as being very PA and unprofessional. They seem quite brainless and hyped up. They must feed them lots of Prozac and coffee. Most U.S. TV people are like this Confused

natcat7000 · 30/07/2015 11:48

I think it was a cultural thing. The US is all about CHEERFUL, EARNEST, HAPPY, JOY JOY, especially hosts of a daytime talk show. The UK usually embraces a bit more light and shade in emotions.

I also think it might have been a timing thing. Cara D is a young, possibly hungover night owl, and also - much as she may be a good person - her ego will be sky-high at the moment.

I think combined they were a car crash.

Overall, I think the sign of a good interviewer/journalist is to bring out the best in their guests and each of the hosts failed miserably and it felt there was a bit of pack mentality at the end so I felt the interviewers came out looking a bit worse in my opinion.
