This is just utter filth. I don't own a dog and where I live the disgusting bastards that own the dogs pick up the shit, put it in a bag then throw it in the bushes too so it's left dangling on some branch. It is so disgusting. Nothing makes me madder.
The worst is when I take my two DC out for a walk along the canal where we live and the buggy wheels get caked in it, my DC tread in it and when we get home it's a mission jet washing everything off so it's not covered in dirty dogs shit.
Yes of course if a dog has the shits then the owner should attempt to clean it. I admit it may be difficult to do that but fucking hell; it's your dog. I shouldn't have to tread in its shit when I'm out walking with my children.

It's a health hazard and unacceptable. :(

Waverley I use a pooper scooper that cost a pound from Wilkinson's, it works well for, erm, less solid output, at least on grass.

OP, YANBU. I can cope with clearing up my own dog's mess, but clearing up after someone else's or cats makes me heave. I'd also like to be able to walk across grass to clear up after my dog, without looking where I'm putting my feet. Around here, it is a £1000 fine, too. Sad

OhWotIsItThisTime · 26/07/2015 07:03

Why let the dog shit in the middle of the pavement? Move it to the side. Then if it's runny, at least it reduces the risk of people stepping in it.

siblingrevelryagain · 26/07/2015 07:16

Leaving bags of poo is not on, but I have slightly less of a problem with someone doing half the job-removing the poo from harms way so no one steps in it/rolls through it-than those who just leave it exposed on the floor.

At least with the others there's some recognition that leaving it exposed is unnacceptable. I'd rather a bag swinging from a bush anyday than shit left on a path.

PunkrockerGirl · 26/07/2015 07:21

YANBU.
Filthy bastard dog owners. I would gladly wipe their faces in it.

BumpTheElephant · 26/07/2015 07:40

I grew up in a place with dog shit covered pavements. I still walk looking at the ground.
Yanbu. I slipped in a massive pile of shite when running after my toddler once. It was all over my canvas shoes. Foul.
A dog walker saw it happen and starting ranting about irresponsible dog owners. He was keen for me to know he always picked up his dogs shit. I think he was more bothered by it than I was!

ollieplimsoles · 26/07/2015 07:45

Where were all the posters of this thread i was growing up?! If we stepped in dog mess when we were little our parents got all angry at US, for not 'looking where we are stepping'

Not the lazy bastards who cba to pick up their dogs mess on a playing field!!

PatMustardsBigTool · 26/07/2015 08:07

Leaving a stinking bag of dog shit hanging from a tree or bush for eternity is much worse than a pile on a path IMO, at least on the path it will eventually disappear. What was once a local beauty spot in my area is now a disgusting sight of poo trees. Don't know what possesses people.

Of course, dog mess should always be picked up and disposed of in the correct manner. If no bin is immediately available then you just have to carry it until there is!
FWIW the only time I didn't pick up my dog's poo was an unfortunate time he decided to squat in the middle of the road as we were crossing...car approaching in the distance...just enough time to drag him to the pavement before the car splatted through it. Was my husband! Grin All shit collected on tires so technically my job was done Grin

eaiand2 · 26/07/2015 08:12

I don't see much dog shit around when I'm home in England, but I've been in Paris for six months and my GOD it's everywhere! And what makes me even more angry is that the government actually provide free poop bags! There are these little kioskan stands with reams of little black poop bags specifically for dog shit and people still don't pick up after their dogs.

The only time I don't pick up after my dog is when she does her business in the middle of a thicket of nettles or similar, and I give the stink eye to anyone I see not picking up after theirs!

RobinHumphries · 26/07/2015 08:16

I agree I hate poo trees and poo bushes.

allyjay · 26/07/2015 09:59

YANBU. Our school run is just awful, trying to get two boys and a pram through all the dog poo littered across the pavements. It's like an obstacle course. Has anyone else noticed that it gets worse in the autumn/winter? Presumably because the dark nights mean that people think they can get away with it more?

DangerousDorothy · 26/07/2015 10:28

It definitely gets worse in the winter where I live because the gits can get away with it more. Although a dog that was a major culprit died recently so until the dirty bugger who owned it gets a new dog we are having a bit of a reprieve from shit.
They used to open the door of their house and send the dog on its own down the main road towards farmland to have a shit so they didn't have to deal with it.

donyourway · 26/07/2015 10:39

Dog shit is the most wretched smell!

I hate those joggers that go running with their dog trailing behind them. Their dog inevitably shits and their owner is 10 or so metres up the path. I swear they have absolutely no intention of picking any dog mess either as they don't carry any bags. Hate those people.

captainfarrell · 26/07/2015 10:54

Disgusting and puts all dog owners in a bad light when the majority do pick up. I don't know why dogs are not encouraged to do it in the gutter instead of the middle of a path or field. At least it'll get washed away down the drain and no one walks there. I can't help think of residue!!!!! I was in hospital recently and the lady in the bed next to me was blind in one eye since birth. Her mum contracted toxo something whilst pregnant from dog poo at a park. Scary!

simplethings · 26/07/2015 16:01

YANBU. I live opposite a big park so get a lot of dog walkers round here. There was a huge pile of dog shit right outside my front gate last week. Not the first time and won't be the last I'm sure.
Took the kids for a walk down the canal recently too and I've never seen it so bad, the path was practically lined with dog poo!
