to feel a bit sad for the grumpy hipsters on holiday

We're in a very naice holiday town in the south west. Most holiday makers seem to be pretty happy to be here and are pleasant; the walkers say hello, the posh people off the massive boats seem quite cheery, the young harassed families all seem grateful for a smile, but my god, the London hipsters are so bloody miserable...

Everyone else manages a hello, or holds gates open, but the folk with asemetrical hair seem intent on scowling at everyone.

I'm not saying you should talk to people on holiday but AIBU to think that when you are on holiday, you should at least try not to be so bloody miserable?

Their excitement when an Urban Outfitters opened in town gave them away.

EachandEveryone · 26/07/2015 22:16

Is urban outfitters hipster? It's my favourite shop

Pixel · 26/07/2015 22:17

Can anyone explain the hipster obsession with burgers in brioche buns please?

Oh are they hipster? I've been buying them in Aldi, and I go in there because I'm poor, not hip.

MaryBerrysEyelashes · 26/07/2015 23:07

Londoners who go on about North London like we all know what that means. Grrrr

nooka · 27/07/2015 02:11

Sorry MaryBerry, in my case it's really just a North/ South rivalry thing so probably quite meaningless really!

Do you all know that shop The Kooples ? (I have actually only seen adverts on sides of buses/bus shelters).

They have the tagline 'Ingrid and Karl have been a couple for 2 years' (big whoop de doo, 2 whole years !!) or 'Venus and Jonas have been together for 9 months'. Two moody skinny looking hipsters who (I can only assume) are meant to represent love's young dream?

If any advert makes me wasn't to draw on moustaches and speech bubbles it's that one

One of my all-time favourite films.

That's one of my favourite movie lines of all time. I only actually saw the film because Fatal Attraction was full.

Yarp · 27/07/2015 08:02

"My thumbs have gone all weird"

etc etc

fancyanotherfez · 27/07/2015 08:11

I'm on holiday 'Oop North' from London. People keep smiling and talking to me. Frankly, it's exhausting!

AndyWarholsOrange · 27/07/2015 08:47

DH is Irish. The first time I visited, we went on this coastal walk and every single person we encountered beamed and said hello and 'lovely day' or such like. I was traumatised I tell you. Although not quite as traumatised as I was by MIL greeting me by crossing herself and flicking holy water over me.

CruCru · 28/07/2015 14:03

Yes, I thought the Kooples were a band or something.
