AIBU to leave dog in garden for a couple of hours even though I know she will bark?

she has fleas and has been treated but we need to fog the house and animals need to be outside
I have messaged my neighbour to find out whether she is on nights and needs to sleep today, if so I won't do it.
I thought doing it this afternoon when the likelihood is that most people would be at as opposed to sunday afternoon.
I have family down (they are at local hotel) and we are taking dd out for a couple of hours - so full car and won't be able to take dog with us.
we never leave the dog to bark in the garden as it disturbs people but would I be unreasonable to do this just once?

Ime foggers don't work. You need indorax spray which you can get cheaply from Amazon. You might need two cans. You don't need to keep animals out afterwards I don't think, certainly not for hours. You could spray and take dog for a walk.

I wouldn't leave a dog outside barking not even as a one off.

thats the stuff I was thinking of viva
After we had spent £££'s and hours using various methods a lovely old couple in pets at home advised us

Good idea OP, it seems stupid to do two complicated things on one day.
Relatives, fogging the house and leaving your dog to piss everyone off with barking?
Either relatives or house makes sense.

thanks for the indorex suggestion.

im really not a nuisance neighbour at all, its just one of those things when I just have too much on and wondered if I could chance it.

so, I think ive been unreasonable but in the most reasonable way Smile

In future regular doses of advocat keep fleas at bay. It really is not nice for animals to have fleas

CoolAs10Fonzies · 24/07/2015 11:29

this is the first time she has had fleas, poor thing Sad

Don't bother fogging as it doesn't work. The spray is far superior and lasts a year. You don't even need to go out you can just spray and open windows and then sit outside with the dog for half an hour or so while it settles. Easy.

Surely you have local dogwalkers who would take her for a couple of hours, rather than piss off the neighbours who work shifts/work from home/are retired/have little ones who need a nap in the pm?

Its ?13 an hour in Zone 4 London.

TheHormonalHooker · 24/07/2015 13:09

I'm glad you're not doing it OP.

New people have moved in behind us. They have left their dog all day, every day (apart from over lunch) all week. It's barked non-stop. I hate them and I've not even met them yet.

lardyscouse · 24/07/2015 13:15

[regular doses of advocat]. That works better on humans. Advocate is better for dogs. [mine's a snowball].

forago · 24/07/2015 13:21

we have a new neighbour that does this. everyone hates them. they stay up all night then sleep all day and put the dog in the garden. it barks constantly. it keeps my children away in the evenings. they have been reported to the council. glad you're not doing this as its beyond obnoxious.

WienerDiva · 24/07/2015 13:46

Indorex spray is very good but I find RIP spray better and kinder to those who inhabit the home.

If it was me and it really was a one off. I'd put the dog in the garden with a gorgeous raw bone, the spraying doesn't take two hours so take pooch out for a walk as soon as your done.

WienerDiva · 24/07/2015 13:47

Just clarify I don't think prolonged all day everyday barking is acceptable. But (hopefully) this is a one off never to be repeated thing. If it isn't then she WBU.

RachelRagged · 24/07/2015 14:05

Bloody glad I don't live near you OP

Though it is thoughtful of you to consult neighbour etc .
