AIBU to leave dog in garden for a couple of hours even though I know she will bark?

she has fleas and has been treated but we need to fog the house and animals need to be outside
I have messaged my neighbour to find out whether she is on nights and needs to sleep today, if so I won't do it.
I thought doing it this afternoon when the likelihood is that most people would be at as opposed to sunday afternoon.
I have family down (they are at local hotel) and we are taking dd out for a couple of hours - so full car and won't be able to take dog with us.
we never leave the dog to bark in the garden as it disturbs people but would I be unreasonable to do this just once?

I think as long as you can forewarn people as much as possible it's fine, it's a one-off. Will the dog be alright out there for 2 hours?

yes I think she will be fine, it's a cool day but will put her food and water outside (and maybe get her a juicy bone to distract her)

Why not wait until someone can take her for a long walk.Nothing more antisocial and nerve shredding than barking dogs.You can't really believe that your immediate neighbour will be the only one affected?

I think that is fine, it would be better if you explain the reason to your immediate neighbours so they know you aren't just being inconsiderate. I would have perhaps tried to take the dog out somewhere for a couple of hours instead - could you do two trips in the car so you can take the dog with you?

I work from home and this would piss me off no end.
I think the long walk suggestion is a good one.

Id do it on a day when I could either take the dog out or stay in the garden with the dog to keep it quiet .

Do you know any local teens who are off school and bored already, looking to earn a bit of cash? They could take the dog for a long walk.

Send her out for a walk with someone. Or put her in doggie day care for a bit. Why would you do something which will a) cause her immense stress and b) hack off everyone in your neighbourhood?

So you pop off and have a lovely quiet afternoon while your neighbours put up with it?
Why not stay home and spend the time with the poor dog in the garden?

I think two hours is a long time. If you want to treat the house then I'd rethink the plans for the day.

What if it rains, would the dog have any shelter?

What do you usually do when you go on holidays, does ddog go to kennels or a dogsitter in-their-own-home type thing. Could you book her in there for the afternoon or day? Would the fleas preclude this?

Be prepared for neighbours to be extremely pissed off & maybe call the dog warden or RSPCA

YABVU! You need to take her somewhere else, daycare, long walk etc. and if you can't do that then someone needs to stay in the garden with her.

Yabu. Dogs barking is anti social and one of the most annoying sounds in the world to me, and lots of other people I'm sure. Also won't the dog be bored and fed up, if it's left alone to bark?

I really think you should cancel/change your plans so you can take the dog with you.

Don't fog the house, you need some of the spray from the vets, it's about £20 but it treats the house for a year

YABU. You need to change your plans. Something like family comes over and you all take the dog out locally, or you drop DD off with them and come straight home, whatever. You can't leave the neighbourhood to listen to your barking dog for several hours, that is really mean! And may result in a noise complaint.

YABVU - ask a neighbour friend to look after the dog.

We asked a neighbour to kitten sit when having termite proofing (Au). The dog went to a professional dog walking service who took him all day. He walked his arse off.

You know your dog will bark, so leaving it outside is out of order.

Might be worth getting a one off dog walker to take her out for a bit? I use to do this occasionaly when people had lunches etc and didn't want the dogs about
