Would you be annoyed if you knew your partner was probably tinkering in stocks and shares without telling you

I know h is probably doing this but when I find the odd letter (unopened but the envelope I mean) from companies like Odey Wealth Management (does anybody know anything about what they do?) I feel a wave of anxiety and also Angry.

Sorry I would want to KNOW

With current DH, I wouldn't have a problem, because he manages the finances, is extremely financially astute and would never risk more than we could afford.

With XH- I would (and did, although it was regular gambling not stocks and shares) go ballistic, because he was crap with money and thought nothing of gambling away our mortgage money.

If there's history-a bad one, which is seems as if there is- I would be very annoyed indeed.

When I started investing it didn't occur to me to tell DH. We have joint finances but from my spends, and we don't discuss any spending unless it's for major joint purchases. I suppose he figured it out from things like me reading up more about investments and mail coming to the house as well, but didn't seem bothered that I hadn't consulted him about it.

DH has invested in equities as long as I've known him, and he's continued to while we've been married, without really seeking agreement since we've joined finances. He is quite sensible and more cautious than I am, and did well enough to ensure we had a hefty deposit on our first home, so I have no concerns about it.

Given that genuine regulated wealth managers (like Odey) are investing in a broad range of companies whose products we buy and who are experienced at extracting the maximum profits from us, he would be a mug not too and just left it in the bank at the bottom of the pile, where you lend to the bank at 1% the bank lend to businesses at 4% who then trade to us at net margins of double digit figures. You need information op, and learn about how capital economies work. You wouldn't sit on that much cash being eroded by inflation.

Not helpful but I've been drinking and thought you were asking about your partner tinkling in his socks BlushGrinWine

Thanks for all your thoughts.

I see what you are saying sleepsoftly but as far as I am aware there is no extra cash to play around with (he often tells me that he is renovating his current investment property on credit), so I am guessing he is investing bits and pieces here and there and not large figures.
