To think that being the Duchess of Cambridge is a full time job in itself.

It takes a lot of time and effort to look good.

Today I did 3 loads of washing, cleaned, hooved the house, washed the floor, made lunch for 4 people, cleared up and sorted out the recycling, mopped the floors and went food shopping. Tonight I will feed 5 people, do 3 loads of ironing, sort out the laundry and finally go to bed at midnight. I haven't even sorted out the garden, cutting back the hedgerows, etc etc etc. I don't even have a paid job - I used to work full time and quite frankly, when I did, the house was chaos.

Today I look a frazzled mess as my hair has gone frizzy in the humidity. I smell a bit even though I had a shower this morning and my clothes are dusty after emptying stuff into the bin and dusting the crap off the window sills etc.

I look like shit.

I haven't time to go to the gym for 3 hours. I haven't the stamina to starve myself so that I'm a size 0. I don't have 2 hours to preen my hair nor make sure my make up is perfect. I wear crap clothes because I don't seem to have the time nor money to go clothes shopping for myself as all the money goes straight out on the kids clothes//activities/food/petrol blah blah blah.

This isn't a moan, really. I would love to have servants staff to clean my house and do my garden, fill the car up with petrol and valet it whilst I lounge about painting my finger nails.

If I gave up all the above and focussed on myself full time, AIBU to think that I too would like like Kate and look permanently perfectly groomed?

I don't think the poster was actually calling Fergie the Duchess of Pork, just pointing out that that was her tabloid nickname because she wasn't very thin.

SirChenjin · 21/07/2015 17:02

I don't think it is - she wouldn't be able to cope with a full time job. Poor love would be utterly exhausted.

ItsNotAsPerfectAsItSeems · 21/07/2015 17:10

Why do people devote so much time to even thinking about her let alone commenting on her looks or her twee pushing of an enormous SC pram. It's all so dull!

Orrla · 21/07/2015 17:10

Duchess Do-little. Grin I find the royals quite entertaining. Dont think they are amazing, but they are not so bad.

Meh. Still wouldn't swap lives with her, even though I'm poor and look like I've been dragged through a hedge backwards. No personal freedom, always wary of your privacy getting ripped away, having to conform to royal protocol all the time.

EponasWildDaughter · 21/07/2015 17:36

I think it really depends on your personality. Some of the busiest people I know achieve a huge amount, whilst others who don't work and have nannies and cleaners seem to do virtually nothing with their time.

Don't they always say 'if you want something done, ask someone who's busy'.

I do look pretty good (even if i say so myself Grin) considering i don't have anyone hounding me for photos and being skint half the time. And a house load of people to look after. And an 18 month old baby. And no staff. And being the wrong side of 40.

If i was the DoCs age, had her money, plus the motivation of knowing that the press were lurking outside the front door every day, i would 100% manage to look that fabulous every day as well as working.

(are we saying royal duties are work?)

She recently went out with her grey showing and the Daily Mail were very cruel. She can't win in that way as some people want to tear others down.

SirChenjin · 21/07/2015 17:43

The joys of full time working - trying to fit in an hairdresser appointment is really difficult, I totally get that.

Bambambini · 21/07/2015 21:57

Of course Royal Duties are work. I'm in no way a royalist too.

PuntasticUsername · 21/07/2015 21:59

IIRC, she chose not to colour her hair while pregnant. And got media attention for having grey roots. What do you think she should have done, exactly, in order to win that one?

SirChenjin · 22/07/2015 07:26

Does she need to win anything? Part of the deal is that she will face scrutiny by some papers - it's a trade off for being funded extremely well for doing very little.
