To think you can just reinvent yourself if you so wish?

Just like that - overnight? I'm fed up with what I've got, so thinking of waking up tomorrow and starting a 'reinventing' process.

My diet, my body, my clothes, my hair, my confidence, my social life..i could go on...It all needs a thorough overhaul.

AIBU to think you can just wake up one morning and start afresh? Anyone done it?

I think sometimes the essential change can happen overnight.

Even though we all know that we have certain bad habits that we ought to change, it can be so hard to make that first step.

But then a day comes when you're ready-- and you never look back. I was like that when I gave up smoking, and again when I left my marriage.

So if today is your day, go for it.

I think you can do the first four. The last two are rather more difficult.

Try www.meetup.com to find groups in your area that do things you're interested in.
That could help with your social life and confidence.

You've all been so kind in responding to this thread - thanks so much. Some really impressive stuff!

I think last night was the night enough was enough.

The wheels are now in motion and i've made a commitment that things can't and won't feel this horrible again.

Yes, it's it totally up to you. Your outlook. Ditch others whom do not support, or at least see them less. Any change has to come from you and you can do it

I did this three years ago. Started by rejoining the gym and downloading mfp. Over the next four months I lost nearly three stone and went from panting after 2 mins running on a treadmill to running 5k comfortably.

3 months after that I ran a half marathon.

The next year I took up cycling as well and did a 100km sportive.

Before this I had spent 40 years thinking I could never be fit and sporty.

With the weight loss came new clothes and I stopped straightening my hair everyday.

Even my kids do not recognise pictures of me from four or more years ago when I was at my lowest mentally and physically. I think this has also made me more confident and although my core circle of friends hasn't changed drastically I do have a wider group of friends that have come from membership of running and cycling clubs.

It is definitely possible and the hardest part is at the start, but it doesn't happen overnight. Once you start to make changes you will become more and more motivated to continue and the process will take on a life of its own.
With me it was partly about changing my priorities a little and finding more time for me.
