Shouldn't we expect just a little bit more of the Duchess of Cambridge.

Never turned up for one single memorial service for the armed forces, but there at Center Court, Wimbledon, rubbing shoulders with a load of celebs, and entertaining Brad and Angelina Pitt at Kensington Palace. Is this what her royal life boils down to.

Freudianslipper So just because the charities she supports aren't particularly flashy and don't appeal to you, she's doing nowt.

PontyGirl · 18/07/2015 21:35

paddy Grin

She could do more. She's got two kids, which is kind of just like a lot of people, who have demanding jobs and no help. I'm sure her life isn't all sweetness and light, but it could be way worse. So yeah, she could do more.

Bodicea · 18/07/2015 21:40

Her main job apart from producing an heir is to keep the Roy's relevant and talked about in the public eye as well as keeping British events talked about internationally. I think more people are going to see her and there will be more pictures of her going to Wimbledon around the world than if she went to a memorial service. No brainer really. Job done.

formerbabe · 18/07/2015 21:40

I find it hilarious that so many women compare their own experience of being a new mum of two and going on maternity leave with hers! Really really ridiculous! I'm gonna guess she's not up to her neck in dirty washing and wondering if she can afford a childminder when she goes back to "work"!

NeedsAsockamnesty · 18/07/2015 21:47

I've got lots of help I would still refuse to go back to work when on ML I may however agree to a social engagement with brad pit

Parker231 · 18/07/2015 21:48

Has she ever done a days work?

FreudiansSlipper · 18/07/2015 21:51

well what charities is she supporting

I can not name one that she is directly involved with, not that she is not supporting them but that says it all really

I find that amusing too, if only I had a night nanny, a day nanny, a pa, a lady in waiting whatever they do, housekeepers, cooks, shoppers, chauffeurs and all the other people standing around waiting to do their task

I'm sure she's perfectly sweet and nice but all the sycophantic fawning on this thread is rather vomit inducing! Aww bless...just an average new mum like the rest of us hey?! I think not!

NeedsAsockamnesty · 18/07/2015 21:58

M-pact plus, coach core, United for wildlife

May not be glam and involve the risk of being blown up but valid enough

MrsHathaway · 18/07/2015 22:00

Two seconds on Google, fucksake.

Here you go.

You don't have to like her or respect her to have the faintest understanding of what it means to be a public figure.

LemonYellowSun · 18/07/2015 22:00

She could do with some KIT days Wink

MurielWoods · 18/07/2015 22:03

No sycophantic fawning.

But women get together to bitch and rip apart another woman, it's like walking into a witches covern of bitter old hags.

TightWadBastard · 18/07/2015 22:03

I don't know about you, but meeting Angelina Bloody Jolie would be hard work for me. I'd want a pay rise after that.

nigelslaterfan · 18/07/2015 22:03

To expect the Royal Family to earn their privileges is like expecting Richard Branson to personally check in your bags onto Virgin planes at Heathrow.

If you think there is anything they could do to earn their extreme unelected, unearned, anti democratic, anti meritocratic (despite partywartyfartyfavours) is totally demented imho.

They are a mahoosive anomaly in a modern 'democratic' state. I don't care if some of 'em are photogenic. I know all the complaints about how her length of service etc etc But why what right does she get to see the PM once a week? I mean that's probably more than any other elected official outside the cabinet and he probably ignores most of them.

I don't mind Kate particularly. The family though, yuck, come the Revolution. They should give all their/our houses (Only theirs because of preposterous tax breaks) to the National Trust and English Heritage for tourists. They should all be forced to live in Kensington palace, scale down, have one bunch of staff, they can keep Windsor but they don't need Sandringham, the Scottish one etc. Scale it down Liz! It's ridiculous to me.

Mehitabel6 · 18/07/2015 22:05

I think some people have too much time on their hands if they even notice.

LovelyFriend · 18/07/2015 22:05

I went to Queens Club when DD was 5 months old - I took her with me in a sling Grin

Jedi1 · 18/07/2015 22:07

You all sound a bit jealous.

lem73 · 18/07/2015 22:09

I understand William wants to protect his family from the limelight but she could do more. If she's happy to take the perks of being a royal (centre court tickets on demand) then she needs to do a bit more of the boring bits which are really the essence of the royal family.
Please don't compare Kate to other new mums. I'll tell you what, when I had dc2 we lived abroad in a country where we could afford domestic help. Life is so much easier when you have someone cooking, cleaning and ironing for you when you have a new baby. We didn't even have a nanny like her and I was so much more relaxed than with dc1.

MargoReadbetter · 18/07/2015 22:10

Oh, it was a nightmare. She found out about the ballot for the tickets at Wimbledon and she was lucky enough to get one! It was a bit last minute and all sorts of childcare shit had to be rearranged but MIL stepped in so she could go. The dress got a bit creased on the Tube and she didn't have the change for the buses put on from station to ground and she had to share the taxi with some random stranger, but, phew, she bloody made it. Her journey back was a nightmare 'cos of the strikes. (But she's a secret leftie and she's dismantling the system from within. Just wait a bit.)

MurielWoods · 18/07/2015 22:10

You should all count yourselves lucky that Kate married William instead of me because I would make a terrible royal.

I pick my nose, go out without makeup, wear crocs, put the bins out in bare feet, have appalling dress sense. I bloated up like a beached whale when I was pregnant and I drink far too much.

To top it all off I would speak my mind at every opportunity and wouldn't give a flying fuck what anyone thought of me.

MurielWoods · 18/07/2015 22:11

Actually, that seemed to work for Princess Margaret Wink

FreudiansSlipper · 18/07/2015 22:12

that's the point Mrs Hathaway I would have to use google ......

MurielWoods · 18/07/2015 22:13

Freudian are you saying that the charities she supports are less worthy because you haven't heard of them?
