I've had a look at their facebook page and they don't appear to be a bunch of smirking 12 year old boys. Wtf are they thinking? Or is it only me who has the major cringe?

No, that's Lordship Lane in Tottenham.

DrLego · 15/07/2015 21:06

Laurie, that was in Wood Green, which is north London somewhere near Arnos Grove/Cockfosters/Finchley and can be accessed by the northern, piccadilly lines or various buses through Camden I think .. cant remember

DrLego · 15/07/2015 21:08

yes I am not aware of Tottenham being gentrified
there's lots of southern gentrification happening- some is perhaps a bit welcome, some is very short-lived and most is just soulless and depressing and diverts business from well established local and real businesses to some mass marketing and insincere conceptualising of a cool place to be

couldoutme · 15/07/2015 21:10

If any of you locals on this thread have posted on the EDF - good work. What a surprise to see some of the regulars on there accusing the wimmin of having no sense of humour Hmm.

OP posts:
whois · 15/07/2015 21:45

I think it's funny.

WhatKatyDidnt · 15/07/2015 21:47

Really whois? It's awful! It's like something the Inbetweeners would come up with in Business Studies.
Heartened that no one seems to be defending it on EDF.

Threesoundslikealot · 15/07/2015 21:53

Because it's not really worth it. That forum is full of middle aged blokes who like to talk about feminazis. Why bother?

Threesoundslikealot · 15/07/2015 21:54

Oops, sorry, you said no one's defending it. That's good!

WhatKatyDidnt · 15/07/2015 21:54

I meant that most posters seem to dislike the name .. On the thread I saw anyway.

MistressMerryWeather · 15/07/2015 21:54

NashvilleQueen, I may have laughed at that quote.

I just love a good play on words though. :o

Sleepsoftly · 15/07/2015 21:56

Mine would be branded Liquors Sir?

BleachEverything · 15/07/2015 21:57

Ha, that's funny. Took me a minute to realise.

ChilliAndMint · 15/07/2015 22:00

Chavtastic!...all ready to get myself vagazzled and spray tanned ready for the big "opening" lol.

lemonade30 · 15/07/2015 22:08

there's a sweet shop in my town named 'Sweet Coq Sucre'

partialderivative · 15/07/2015 22:11

People do realise that there has been a MN topic called 'Cunning Linguist' for quite some time now don't they?

couldoutme · 15/07/2015 22:13

No, I didn't realise that actually. And I've been a Mnetter for 9 years.

RunningJumpingClimbingTrees · 15/07/2015 22:19

There's an art shop in edinburgh called 'art bandit' makes me giggle when I see it because I'm very childish.

SmillasSenseOfSnow · 15/07/2015 22:25

I'm not getting 'Liquors Sir?'. Confused

Janethegirl · 15/07/2015 22:27

The only good thing about the name is it gets people talking about it. On that basis it'll be a roaring success.

couldoutme · 15/07/2015 22:46

Why will it be a roaring success if people are talking about it? Confused

Surely the people need to actually go in to the place and buy food and drink in there? They need to be up for saying to their friends "yeah, lets meet in Pussy Licker" and not feel like a proper twat when doing so. And they need to do it on a regular basis as it is off the beaten track on a local High Street in an area with relatively poor public transport. It's not going to attract visitors from far and wide.

OP posts:
Janethegirl · 15/07/2015 22:55

All publicity for such a place is good publicity. People will be tempted to go and check it out.

Sleepsoftly · 15/07/2015 23:01

Smillas

After a heavy meal, the waitress approaches the host and says "Liquors Sir?" to which the gentleman says, "Yes please, and afterwards can I lick yours?"

Smile
couldoutme · 15/07/2015 23:06

Oh I find that "all publicity is good publicity" a terribly trite old pile of nonsense.

I would have gone to this bar if it had had almost any other name, but won't now because it just makes me think the owners must be fucking idiots.

OP posts:
Threesoundslikealot · 15/07/2015 23:07

I'm always up for trying out new local restaurants, but this one is utterly unappealing to me and, I suspect, many others. I'd feel uncomfortable eating there.

Janethegirl · 15/07/2015 23:08

Obviously your choice OP but may not be everyone's!!
