I'm at my friend's and he's just told me he's going to cook the cat egg on toast. This isn't a joke, this literally just happened. I thought he was joking. No. He's ran out of tinned cat food and apparently the cat loves it. Have I drifted into a parallel universe? Am I going mad?

My cat used to love toast, eggs, tuna, ice cream, tomato soup, Weetabix....pretty much anything. She was as much of a dustbin as my dogs are. I met someone whose dog literally had 'dinner' with them every night and ate what they did at the same time as them. I found that a bit unusual, though presumably the dog didn't sit at the table with a plate...

Oh and she'd launch herself at you and walk down your body to get at the ice cream. Bloody rude. She was half-feral and knew how to take care of herself. When DH got up in the night for a wee she would climb into his bit of the bed and lay there....they hated each other to start with! Bloody loved that animal.

My cat loves scrambled egg! She's all over me like a rash whenever I have some, I always give her a bit, sometimes on a saucer so we're both eating off a 'plate' at the same time. (crazy cat lady alert)
I've never made it specifically for her though, maybe I will now, sounds kind of cute . She loves mash potato too.

My cats like raw egg. My vet said it was fine to give them that. Would save your friend having to wash up a pan. Anything they could eat in the wild is good for them: raw chicken with bones is good for their teeth, not cooked though as the bones splinter. Not sure they could catch chicken tikka masala in the wild...

I've given our dogs scrambled egg and rice if they've been a bit ill in the past but not the cats. Just make sure it's not too often because cats do need to eat meat or they go blind (whereas dogs are omnivorous and can live perfectly healthy lives on a vegetarian diet as long as it's got a good balance).

Local pet shop owner confesses has given up on pet food for own pets. She just cooks another portion of what they are having. That way the pets don't complain, leave their own food to hold to waste, look at you with soulful eyes. Eat at same time. Don't eat the veg.
