I'm at my friend's and he's just told me he's going to cook the cat egg on toast. This isn't a joke, this literally just happened. I thought he was joking. No. He's ran out of tinned cat food and apparently the cat loves it. Have I drifted into a parallel universe? Am I going mad?

I've had a cat in the past who would eat toast & scrambled egg

Mum & dads old cat refused to eat ANYthing without extra gravy - my mum made a pan of gravy every morning just for the cat!

Our current Tom cat lives fish food Confused

Feed the fish is fun as he will not take know for an answer & has knocked the tub on the floors& wolfed half of it before I could get it back off him Hmm

Chicken and/or scrambled eggs have been suggested as a light meal, usually after surgery,by every vet I've used. White fish is another.

I make my dog scrambled eggs every day.

When the dog was ill once the vet told us to make her a light meal.

DH grilled her a bit of chicken and scrambled her an egg Grin

I'm lucky if he passes me the paracetamol packet when I'm ill, but the dog gets a special meal. Hmm

The vet thought it was hilarious when DH earnestly described what he'd cooked at the next visit.

Am Grin at

Cats are mostly made of protein

Cats' eggs on toast (you do get cats' eggs, I suppose, but they're probably not visible to the naked eye. I feel a bit sick now)

There are no cats on Twitter.

My parents' cat loves eggs. The one and only time we ever caught him on the kitchen worktop was when he'd gone up there to steal a boiled egg my mum had set aside for her lunch the following day.

Our cat used to sit under ds's high chair and eat anything he dropped, he was a rescue cat that had lived wild for a bit and used to raid bins for food too despite being well fed. He once brought home a whole black pudding. He also used to growl at the neighbour's dog until he ran away and then steal his food.

Our greyhound loves, well, pretty much everything really. He'll often have what we have for tea. Sometimes from a plateBlush Remember though, onions and grapes are toxic to dogs.

I had to read that first sentence a couple of times thinking "cats don't lay eggs". Brain. Not. Working.

Are the ginger cake and Baileys in the one bowl, or side by side?

My cat loves coconut oil. She started to lick my hands after I'd rubbed some in, so I gave her a bit - she went mad for it! Now she comes and sits by the jar and looks at it til I give her some. I reckon she's paleo, like me Smile

Eggs are ok for cats though not sure about the toast. Vets often seem to recommend a bit of scrambled egg after an op.

Having said that, my great aunt used to give her cat a packet of crisps..

And we had a cat once who would rip open a pack of doughnuts and steal one if you left them on the side.

You really never know with cats!

My cat once raided the bin for some boiled eggs I threw away uneaten. He gorged on about three and got "eggbound". But was better than the time he ate sweetcorn...

Mine used to eat grapes. And plastic bags, but she was a bit odd. Lived to 18 so never did her any harm.

DDog1 came to us from the breeder with his own diet sheet, including weetabix with goats milk, scrambled egg, macaroni cheese, plain pasta but never bolognese with it. It was all kinds of weirdness (especially since DH had stocked up on Pedigree Chum) but the breeder is known for her healthy dogs and Crufts placings, so we went with it.
He finally moved onto proper dog food at 6 months but is still partial to cheese.

We inherited a cat that we were convinced must have been born feral as she would eat any type of food left out by accident in the kitchen despite being well fed. Curry, poppadums, topping off of pizza (but left the crustwith delicate nibble marks), leftover chips, bread still in the packet. She had no shame --but luckily she never quite figured out how to open the fridge

My cat will eat anything, very handy when I've had to work late and ran out of her food. She's particularly fond of sausage an mash or tomato soup. She's a tabby and has a iron stomach, plus the vet says she's very healthy (especially as she refuses to go outside) so don't see the harm in her having the odd non cat meal. Just don't leave your dinner alone when you go to the loo, she has no boundaries.

It's not great for them regularly but mine would be delighted.

No toast would be eaten mind, just licked like a cat lolly.
