Snuffle babe on the soles of their feet, covered by socks helps mine.

FernGullysWoollyPully · 12/07/2015 16:44

Raise the mattress or legs of the bed. The angle is supposes to help relieve it.

FernGullysWoollyPully · 12/07/2015 16:45

Hmm supposed

DonkeyOaty · 12/07/2015 16:45

Short term I would do calpol and brufen piggy back to get through tonight. Damp dust bedroom/take down and wash curtains, check for mould

Long term would be get to GP, is it post viral cough, asthma, allergy?

Bunbaker · 12/07/2015 16:48

If the cough is only at night it could be asthma, so it might be worth a trip to the GP.

Sighing · 12/07/2015 17:03

This was asthma in my eldest. That said some propping up to tilt the bed and mattress does keep (the cough) it relatively mild

Chunkymonkey79 · 12/07/2015 18:42

I recently had my dd checked for a horrid persistent night time cough.

GP prescribed nose drops and piriton at bedtime plus snufflebabe on chest back and feet. Worked an absolute treat!!

chemenger · 12/07/2015 18:45

With dd2 it was the first sign of hay fever, portion should help.

chemenger · 12/07/2015 18:46

Piriton. Not portion.

GlitzAndGigglesx · 12/07/2015 18:46

Vicks on bottom of feet with socks on and pillows propped up. It can be a pain to keep on top of but make sure they're on their side, not their back

Branleuse · 12/07/2015 18:46

Make him a tea out of thyme

Woobeedoo · 12/07/2015 21:45

I'm going to have to try some of these. My little boy has a 3:30am cough - never any other time, just then. Very odd!

Cliffdiver · 12/07/2015 21:48

DD1 (now 3.8) also had a night cough which turned out to be asthma.

I was Hmm when the doctor mentioned it, but since being prescribed an inhaler (2 puffs before bed) she's been cough free at night ever since.

StarlightMcKenzee · 12/07/2015 21:54

Chocolate.

Humidifier

WhyCantIuseTheNameIWant · 12/07/2015 21:57

Check up from the doc if its been more than a few days

Vics on the feet and chest helped my dd.

gonerogue · 12/07/2015 21:57

Vicks or snufflebabe on feet with socks over at night.
Steam in the bedroom to keep the air from drying out their throat.
A drop of chamomile essential oil on their pillow - just one up at the top will help too.

Sternin · 12/07/2015 22:31

I find the Calpol plugin helps when my daughter has this.

Ham69 · 12/07/2015 22:39

My DS constantly suffered with a horrendous night time cough. He's 8 now and definitely does not have asthma. The only thing that kept me sane was a humidifier (I bought mine from argos). I could not recommend one highly enough.

Just to add, the older he gets, the less frequent the coughs are. Hold tight, OP. He's still very young and his immune system will get stronger.

slippermaiden · 12/07/2015 23:05

Vicks on the soles of their feet!

SingSongSlummy · 12/07/2015 23:09

Warm mist humidifier is great for night time coughs.

milkyman · 13/07/2015 12:06

which humidifier is worth getting?

OP posts:
Purplepoodle · 13/07/2015 12:32

Cold air humidifier. Got mine from argos. Brilliant when they have a cold. Useful myself to stop coughing at night
