Piriton at night. Suppresses the cough reflex.

Please be careful with humidifiers if you have wall paper in your child's room. They can cause unseen mould to grow which can be more harmful than the cough in the longterm. My DCs cough was asthma. But when it is just a cold I like the calpol plug in, also consider Benilyn night coughs but speak to your GP about the right dose first.

Half an onion in their room.
I thought the person who suggested this was off her head. I tried it and it works!

Put a tablespoon of sugar on the other half, cover and leave a day or two and you have a sore throat remedy, particularly good for hoarseness.

I always took the toddler to my bed and cuddled him to sleep.

Wondering why this is in AIBU .........

Sgtmajormummy · 13/07/2015 13:24

I used to take mine on a soft half-asleep walk around the house ("Ooh, look, the TV's sleeping but it's still got a little light on!") and a drink of water, which stopped the coughing spasm and they were glad to climb back into bed again. Grin
Ours were just normal back-to-school coughs, though. Not worth giving medicine for.

because it gets the most responses and i wanted some advice.
