I can't take dc out of school in term time but...

They have had the last two Fridays off.
They had a weeks trip which included an entire day at a theme park and a day shopping.
They've had two fun theme days.
Tomorrow they are spending an entire day again at a theme park again which means those left behind who can't afford like my dc will watch dvds all day.
I know iabu but

The whole school has been off on the two Fridays, the whole school have done the two fun days, the whole school are going on the theme park trip (if you want to and can afford)
The week long trip was relevant to child's year but I am aware the other years have also been on very similar trips in the last couple of weeks.

I get pissed off with this.
DD is senior school age and come down like a ton of bricks on anyone who takes them out of school even for a day, yet this week there a no lessons just fun stuff. Which would be ok, but if I said I wanted to take her away this week I would find myself with a massive fine!

I didn't say I thought it was an educational trip.
I just said the odd day here and there for days out wouldn't bother me and isn't the same as a week off. Which is why schools can do this and still say no to holidays.
I don't agree, at a, with the no term time holiday rules anyway. It pisses me off. Especially when they do bugger all in the last few weeks. But I don't think you can compare days trips with holidays.
I get where you are coming from and agree to an extent. Just trying to badly explain why schools get away with it and parents don't.

Dds school have barely done any academic work since she did her sats in May. We have just had fitness fortnight (so sports all day everyday for 2 weeks) most of which dd isn't interested in. A few weeks preparing and end of term play and next week is DVDs, a day trip and leaver assembly. I was half tempted to take her away, except (because she is leaving there this year) she really wanted to stay with her friends a few more days.
Is been pointless.

I don't understand why there are schools doing DVD days when there is still a week and a bit to go. 
We're still working in my class (Y2) though we may let them have a DVD on the last day and we have some fun (but still educational) things planned as part of our topic.

maddy you are right. We have never had problems with the school, when taking her out and I imagine they wouldn't mind if kids missed this time of year.
Teachers at our are obviously ready to finish school. Dd has slowly started finishing earlier. They used to come out at 3.25pm, last week it was about 3.10pm

exact not sure. Dds trip this week is the leavers trip and the letter we got was the usual letter stating they were asking for a contribution and suggested £15 , rather than 'it costs this much anyone not paying can't go'
So I just assumed that the rule applies to all trips. I maybe wrong though.
