My cats and cat poo in neighbours' gardens

Blahdeblah1 · 12/07/2015 08:52

I moved into my house a year ago and have three cats. My neighbours are all quite elderly and have lived there for decades, they are all keen gardeners and very proud of their gardens.

Several months ago my next door neighbour started complaining to me about my cats pooing on his drive, so every time I go round and clear it up. Although to be honest I'm not convinced that the poo is from my cats.

Anyway, I'm now having complaints about cat poo from people who live way down the street, that my cats are pooing in their garden, although they admitted they hadn't actually seen the cat that did it. I live on a large suburban housing estate where there are loads of cats.

AIBU for thinking that cats are cats and I shouldn't be expected to be picking up any cat poo really, and to tell my neighbours to deal with it themselves and stop complaining to me? I can't control where my cats poo, they are not dogs.

If he spends all day in his garden then he can chase the offending cats away possibly?
Sounds like he may need help.

Lurkedforever1 · 12/07/2015 23:06

ican'tbelieve your neighbour is a cunt and I hope he crashes his car on a lonely night and gets eaten alive by the cats he's left there. Inbred psychopathic scum. If that was my neighbour I'd be plastering his contact details and fucked up activities around all the locals.

Lurkedforever1 · 12/07/2015 23:07

Yeah help to have anti freeze poured down his throat. You need to tell the police and local vets

Sparklingbrook · 12/07/2015 23:09

Who puts anti freeze in their water features anyway? That's odd.

LashesandLipstick · 12/07/2015 23:11

I'm actually really upset at the thought of someone stealing cars and dumping them in a forest. Things on forums don't usually upset me but this is horrible

LashesandLipstick · 12/07/2015 23:11

Cats

AmIthatsummery · 12/07/2015 23:16

Just caught up with this thread and see we still have the hardy couple of cat lover posters, whose rights to own little shitters trumps all who don't want.

I also see the MH insults are back.

Great way to win an argument Wink

Icantbelieveitsnotbutter · 12/07/2015 23:16

He said he uses it so the water doesn't freeze.

Sparklingbrook · 12/07/2015 23:17

summery nobody ever wins a cat poo in the garden argument. Grin

Icantbelieveitsnotbutter · 12/07/2015 23:18

Is it illegal to put anti-freeze in water features?

Sparklingbrook · 12/07/2015 23:19

I have no idea Icant I wouldn't have thought so but isn't it intended for cars? I thought water features are best turned off in minus temperatures anyway.

Lurkedforever1 · 12/07/2015 23:26

If you're deliberately committing acts of cruelty it's illegal, and given his other sadistic hobby I think legally he could be done for poisoning.

Sparklingbrook · 12/07/2015 23:28

If any bird or wild animal drank the anti freeze they would probably die.

prorsum · 12/07/2015 23:30

It's never the cat owners that have MH issues I've noticed. They are sane and empathetic. To cats.

Sparklingbrook · 12/07/2015 23:32

Well I am sure there are many cat owners with MH issues. I spent a couple of years on anti depressants. Sad

LashesandLipstick · 12/07/2015 23:33

I have MH issues, not sure what that has to do with my pets?

Sparklingbrook · 12/07/2015 23:34

Me neither Lashes.

AmIthatsummery · 12/07/2015 23:36

Yes prorsum, they seem to think they are the sane ones. Everyone who doesn't fawn over their fur babies and revel in cleaning up their stinking mess is a "nutter" or a "psycho".

It's quite amusing, and sad at the same time

MistressMia · 12/07/2015 23:38

Sparkling you are viewing it from the perspective of a cat lover, of which I am one too.

However, clearly not every one is. To others they are vermin, just like rats are to me.

I would never knowingly harm any creature, but any that repulsed me would be dispatched pretty sharpish if they were repeatedly encroaching onto my territory and and affecting me.

Only because my list is limited to traditional vermin such as rats am I not berated. I really don't see the difference between my attitude to rats and those who don't like cats.

Sparklingbrook · 12/07/2015 23:39

This thread is really sad that's for sure but not amusing at all. Thread hiding time I think as it seems to be getting personal.

LashesandLipstick · 12/07/2015 23:42

Even animals you regard as vermin shouldn't be harmed. I cannot understand what is wrong with people who think it's okay to bully defenceless wildlife.

I prefer picking up turds off grass than dealing with sadistic wankers

Lurkedforever1 · 12/07/2015 23:48

Massive difference between expecting people to fawn over your cat (which nobodys said) and committing animal cruelty or condoning it.
Cat lovers are as likely to have mh issues as anyone else, but don't suffer mh issues that are related to lack of empathy like those with psychopathic habits do. And cat lovers have much less likelihood of suffering the mental health condition 'manic twatitis bastard syndrome' which is far more common amongst those who hate cats

Fleecyleesy · 12/07/2015 23:48

Choosing to own an outdoor cat (that doesn't exclusively use a litter tray) in a built up area is an antisocial choice.

OP you say that cats are cats and they poo and people should just deal with it...but in the same way, people are people and get upset and angry when their property is continually fouled, ruining parts of their gardens and restricting the amount of use their kids get from their own garden.

So the consequence of you owning cats is that people are cross with you. That's not a question of yabu/yanbu, that's just a fact.

MistressMia · 12/07/2015 23:50

Lashes what would you suggest I do with an infestation of rats..move out and give them the run of the house ?

Nobody is advocating bullying defenceless wildlife and I would argue that the domestic cat is not 'wildlife'. They've been brought to the neighbourhood by their owners, so it is their owners responsibility to make sure they don't cause a nuisance to others.

prorsum · 12/07/2015 23:53

'manic twatitis bastard syndrome'
Occurs when a cat shits repeatedly on someone's lawn. A good way to turn a perfectly reasonable human being into a cat hater.
