Smiggle pencil cases

My dd wants one of these - nothing else will do apparently. But tbh I think it's ridiculous to have to spend £17 on a pencil case.

I'm not sure if this is peer pressure.

They haven't arrived here as a thing yet. Glad I've been forewarned.

Pointlessfan · 11/07/2015 08:39

I thought it was a bit ridiculous too but for once all my secondary kids are fully equipped for school as pencil cases are cool! For years they've shoved a pen in their pocket and lost it before break! I bought my niece one for her birthday and it went down very well!

The pens, pencils, erasers etc look very similar to those I bought recently at a shop they have all over Belgium called Hema-only Hema is a lot cheaper. It is a store with clothes, toys, home stuff, toiletries, Dutch food etc as well as stationery. They have a big stationery dept so may have pencil cases too. The things I bought are good quality.

It is a bit like ikea in the way they market and how simple things are, but with different items and smaller shops. There are 3 of them in London now and I expect them to spread throughout the UK. I loved them. Really cute, funky stuff reasonably priced.

Oh my goodness Hema - never heard of it until this thread and have just spend a very happy hour buying lots of lovely stationery - thank you mrshuggybear!

Oh Koala I live for the day that Kikki K open up in the UK. It was heavenly.

Smiggle often have sale on a certain colour. DD dragged me there a week ago for a pre birthday look and she wanted a pencil case. I found that some pink ones were being sold for £5. She is delighted with it and has fitted a set of 25 felt pens in hers so capacity is okay too. School backpacks were £38 so I said she would have to wait for sale.

I don't get this - never heard of it so looked at website and it's really unexceptional. Paperchase looks much nicer to me - why is this better?

Nikkinoo77 · 27/08/2015 07:32

EduCated I've heard rumours that a KikkiK store will be opening in London. Grin

londonrach · 27/08/2015 07:35

Love hema. Spend hours in there when abroad. Did pop into a snuggle store and wasnt impressed. Maybe pop inagain.

EduCated · 27/08/2015 08:19

Niki I googled after I posted last night and saw that! I would definitely make a special trip it would be cheaper than the postage and customs I paid for overseas delivery Blush

LilyTucker · 27/08/2015 08:24

Wondering what quality the Smiggle stationary is as I'd be a bit dubious re some of those pencil prices if they weren't Steadler quality.

LilyTucker · 27/08/2015 08:25

As an aside Smiths seems to sell a lot of Smiggle style stuff cheaper- hard top pencil cases etc.

TheSpottedZebra · 27/08/2015 08:32

I'm another one that's looked at the website and just doesn't get it. It all looks like overpriced shite.

Yes, I am my mother Shock

Me too Ed, I'd love KikkiK planner.
