Smiggle pencil cases

bodenbiscuit · 09/07/2015 22:56

My dd wants one of these - nothing else will do apparently. But tbh I think it's ridiculous to have to spend £17 on a pencil case.

I'm not sure if this is peer pressure.

Ds2 has a pencil case and a backpack. The backpack particularly, I think, is very good quality- very sturdy.

I was very sceptical at first, but my god I loved it in that shop Grin So many lovely things!

SchwarzwalderKirschtorte · 10/07/2015 07:27

I wish I hadn't looked. My office is going to get some stationery!Grin

Sign up for smigglemail to get 10% off.

I have never heard of it. DD is probably too old, DS1 barely has a pen Hmm and the other two are too little. I love stationary.

Amazon have the hard ones for £8:50 and £10:50 with free delivery.

thegreylady · 10/07/2015 09:24

Wrong ones but the Squiggle website has some in its sale.

Hadenough15 · 10/07/2015 09:44

There is a shop in Leicester. Never really gone in but dd begs everytime we walk past.. I'm going to arrange a shopping trip just me and her before school restarts :)

bodenbiscuit · 10/07/2015 13:04

I can't see them on Amazon - what did you put into the search?

UnspecialSnowflake · 10/07/2015 13:08

They do pretty good reductions in the sales if she can hang on. A couple of weeks ago I got DD a Smiggle rucksack for next term, £15 reduced from £26, and post Christmas I got her some headphones £10 down from £20.

threenotfour · 10/07/2015 13:09

Be warning just after tons of parents had bought their children one our school banned them completely. Money down the drain.

teeththief · 10/07/2015 13:14

Our local one always has a pretty good sales stand. DD got a pencil case for £1. It isnt a hard one though. If you've got a shop nearby I'd go and look around properly

Rockdoctor · 10/07/2015 13:28

DDs school had to ban the hard Smiggle cases - they don't actually fit much in and they were constantly getting broken. Love the Smiggle shop though.

It seems that once they reach the age of 7 or 8 they move on to Blott anyway.

Livvylovess · 10/07/2015 13:28

Basically over priced rubbish which everyone will want for 6 months before they move on to something else, Make her save and buy her self. Then she will appreciate it much more.

Everyone wanted or had forever friend in my day. Never used that expression before. is 35 to young to use IN MY DAY?

solylluvia · 10/07/2015 13:35

Warning about the backpacks. DD had one, and the stitching came apart within a few months. Got a replacement (easy to get, thank goodness), and the same happened again. DD has a satchel now, so we shall see!

ebwy · 10/07/2015 13:50

never heard of them, but their smiggle snake puzzle is actually the rubik's snake from the 1980's.... (love a nose around websites, me...)

FeelingSmurfy · 10/07/2015 14:24

Rock nooooo don't give me another website to drool over

wafflyversatile · 10/07/2015 14:30

I love smiggle. I don't actually have any stuff but I've spent a very happy 40 minutes in their shop.

VacantExpression · 10/07/2015 14:40

Love it in there but my DD too young just yet... I offered to buy DS2 something last time we were in there and I was met with Hmm

KoalaDownUnder · 10/07/2015 14:50

I have a metric tonne of smiggle shite, because a close friend used to manage one of their shops. She gave me gift bags of old stock all the time.

If anyone wants some unused pencil cases and notebooks I can dig them out! Grin

I thought smiggle was already a bit passé, but maybe that's just in Oz/with older kids.

I'm all about KikkiK now - LOVE their stationery!

ohtheholidays · 10/07/2015 15:53

I try to avoid that shop now,I managed to spend over £50 in there last December, just on the few bits that DD(11)had on her Christmas list.

Oldest DS(18) was with me at the time and looked like he was going to pass out when he saw the total.

We must have made a strange sight outside the store,6ft tall teenager (trying to drag his short arse Mother back into the store)telling me off for spending so much on stationary and telling me they must have made a mistake at the till.

Shan't take him again,I don't think his nerves could take it bless him Grin

FeelingSmurfy · 10/07/2015 23:23

koala I am crazy about stationary and so is my niece, I actually need pencil cases for all of my pens and pencils (from another thread...MN is expensive!) And notebooks are my fav! If you do dig any out just let me know how much £ Smile

ShelaghTurner · 10/07/2015 23:28

Entire school is smiggle mad. A branch is opening in our local shopping centre this weekend. I'm taking DD1 in return for her excellent report. I did smiggle party bags, boy was I popular! Wink

JohnCusacksWife · 11/07/2015 01:09

Have never heard so Smiggle but am aghast that anyone in their right mind would pay £17 for a pencil case! The world's gone mad.

thismumismad · 11/07/2015 08:26

They have a sale on m.smiggle.co.uk/shop/m20/en/smiggleuk/bubble-hardtop-pencil-case-441373--1
