AIBU?

To find the term 'unmumsnetty hug' absurdly irritating?

  1. It is used with such frequency that said hug cannot, by definition, be 'unmumsnetty'

  1. It's just so ANNOYING! Why not just say 'sending you a hug'?!

Rant over. I feel better already.

Natty is a natty word. Can't think of the last time I used it mind you.

Lots of sayings on mumsnet have pissed me off over the years. They come and they go :)

Mind you, its to save getting a bollocking from the ones that say a normal "sending you hugs" is fah too common.

Of course there are "clicks" on here. Just because its on the net and not in real life it still goes on with a lot of the "regulars"

There are no 'clicks' on MN. (Or even cliques.)

We have quiches instead.

I like to call it clicks myself if its all the same to you Errol.

To be honest, most the phrases on here irritate me, especially having to consciously use DH as opposed to just H.

Urgh.

It was left over from when MN got more HUNS on it who wanted tickers and hugs and kisses on posts

Just post how you want to. As long as you can get yourself understood it doesn't matter. No need to be all irritable about it.

It's mildly irritating, but I think MN likes to think of itself as a narrow-eyed nest of vipers, fag on collective lip, brutally quashing unreasonableness and pretension, when actually - with the honourable exception of AIBU - is actually a pretty supportive and helpful spot. Even sisterly.

But the word clicks does not have the same meaning as the word cliques Hmm so why would you prefer to use a word which is just purely incorrect?

Unmumsnetty hugs is a saying from old. Fair enough if you don't like it.

Because I wish to Minty, why would you have two y's in Minty, thats clearly not the right spelling is it.

For me people are in clicks... they all click about the same thing. So never you mind. Glass houses and all that :)

I have two yys in Mintyy because unfortunately the username Minty had already been claimed by another. I advanced searched and advanced searched like mad but couldn't find any posts in the archive from this Minty. But sadly, once a username has gone, it is gone for good.

Perhaps you should change your name to clickycrusts to signify your unique take on that word?

Do you mean to be so rude Minty? :)

I can spell a word any way I wish for whatever reason I wish.

Do you wear pearls and clutch them rather often?

Are you a pendant?

No, no intention to be rude at all.

Having trouble grasping whatever it is you are trying to say but, anyway, I wish you goodnight. Off to bed now.

I understand "unmumsnetty hugs" to be an AIBU thing, because people who spend most of their time on AIBU are described as "vipers" (and, to be fair, are often harsh).

Posts are often picked apart, criticized, etc.

So, to me an "unmumsnetty hug" is saying "AIBU won't/wouldn't do this, but I'm sending you support and love and comfort" It's often posted on thread where the "unmumsnetty" poster thinks the OP will be flamed but is bravely showing support. And that is why I like it.

I don't read it as anything to do with other websites.

And, btw, I will continue to use it, so it's a YABU from me!

No such thing as a CLICK
It's a CLIQUE.

And I also hate the term unmumsnetty Angry
