I don't think they should be expected to pass towels to players after each point and when the player wipes the sweat off his face and walks around the court, have to face the player and walk backwards, waiting to be thrown the sweat soaked towel, sometimes viscously at their face. One ball girl was in tears yesterday after being yelled after by Novak-Djokovic. Can't be right surely.

Sophie I did think at first you weren't being serious but then I wasn't sureSmile

I genuinely can't think of any other viruses that're transmitted by sweat alone - anyone know? Everything I can think of is respiratory secretions or faecal/oral or via blood.
I am a massive Federer fan, he could sweat over me any day.

My sons a wimbledon ball boy this year and for last year and i can bloody well tell you they are not treated like shit.

He goes to one of the local schools in the Kingston area and although he went through pure hell during the training and the whole selection process was draining, he receives well over a thousand quids worth of Ralph Lauren kit, just under 200 quid in courtesy payment (which to a 15 year old is alot of money) and he not only got to miss school and his exams week for the fornight (lol), he got to get a view of wimbledon no one else could literally ever get, he got to interact with the likes of Maria Sharapova and Roger Federer and spend a whole two weeks on the grass courts of wimbledon, being chauffered around, only being seen drinking Evian water and on top of all that he was part of the Guard of Honour for the men's final which meant he was apart of the chosen few stood at the entrance to centre court in a line whilst the players, the mentors, members of the royal family all walked past and shook his hand. He had the time of his life and there was even a few Australian players who apparently always said "thank you" under their breath every single time they were fed a ball, given a drink or handed a towel. On top of all this he was given a certificate, a can of used balls from the ladies final and memories he will never forget. Wimbledon is also the only tournament to have such a rigourous ball boy/girl training programme and as such theres actually an extremely high respect for what they do and many of the players and umpires regard them as 'the best in the world'. So he gets to brag about that as he knows he was a part of the 250 best ball boys and girls in the world out of over 1000 applicants ahaha. And he'll never forget the first time they marched out in their rehearsed formation onto centre court, as they set the scene and are the first people on court, everyone in the stadium stood up and applauded and he felt extremely lucky and special. He even told me on the first day, as they got off the private coach to the all england club, ralph lauren tracksuits and gear and personalied passes to the aeltc in hand, they were ushered through mobs of press and media representatives to the underground ball boy-girl complex which made him feel "famous" xD. He can't wait for this time two weeks...
