to be suspicious of older women with totally smooth foreheads!

Was watch tv the other day and an older actress was on and I noted to my friend that she had a very smooth forehead and that she must have been at the botox. My friend had a look and said maybe she just doesn't have forehead lines? I pointed out that she had a smooth forehead even when she raises her eyebrows and my friend said she didn't either, she wears a fringe so I hadn't noticed before but she has no lines at all on her forehead at 38 (none at all round her eyes or mouth either) even when she raises her eyebrows her forehead doesn't line. She claims her mother is the same.

I just find it very hard to believe, I am 34 and have had lines on my forehead for years and so does everyone I know who isn't a child. I never thought she was the time but I now suspect her to be a secret botox user, that or nature is very unfair!

I don't have any yet- early 50s. That said, I did have annoying oily skin when I was younger so maybe it is payback time. I do wear eye makeup and sometimes lipstick but never face makeup. I suspect that helps, although it may be a myth.

I'm 66 and have no lines on my forehead. When I raise my eyebrows nothing much changes as my forehead is pretty immobile. Quite weird really. And I have very few lines around my eyes and mouth.

I'm always being told I don't look my age. All the women in my family were/are the same. It's just in the genes.

barbi65 · 25/03/2017 04:27

I'm 52 and i do not have a single wrinkle or line on my forehead and I have never used Botox or any other type of treatment

JonesyAndTheSalad · 25/03/2017 04:32

Mine is line free. I'm 44...it's genetics and a teenagehood spent indoors due to my Goth tendencies! Also, I don't drink.

ModreB · 25/03/2017 04:57

I am 50. I have no lines, creases, wrinkles or crows feet. Never had any 'work' done either. I do have grey hair, that became grey when I was about 16.

kmc1111 · 25/03/2017 05:34

It depends on how you move your face. I don't tend to crinkle up my forehead, so it's pretty smooth. I know many people who constantly have a crinkled up forehead or eyebrows furrowed, so they have lots of lines there.

My eyes barely crinkle when I smile because of my face shape, so again, very minor crows feet. I do have very obvious laugh lines, because I spend a lot of time at work with a smile plastered on.

If you have a very expressive face or your 'resting face' isn't really resting but contracting facial muscles, you're going to get more lines. And don't forget the genetic component.

GrayJane · 25/03/2017 05:44

yabu- what's suspicious about botox. Fuck off with scrutinising women's faces.

this.

ps. no wrinkles here. lots of botox though.

FrenchLavender · 25/03/2017 06:00

So many women have good botox and fillers now that it's impossible to tell whether they've had a little help or are just genetically lucky. Too much botox stands out like a sore thumb but I still prefer it to looking haggard and droopy.

Fillers on the other hand, bad fillers are awful and you'd look better without any.

I have friends all roughly the same age as me (around 47 to 53) and the rate at which our faces are holding up and our hair is greying varies hugely. Some I am pretty sure have had no treatments whatsoever, they are just lucky.

Henrysmycat · 25/03/2017 06:02

I've links to the film industry via close family and have been to award ceremonies and premieres. 99% of them have done work, they look odd from up close. In film most of them look fine. Some work is more extensive than others. Very much doubt if anyone has their own nose. Botox and fillers are like boots facewash to you, i.e. done all the time. Cheek implants, and mid face facelift are the norm, especially if chunky young cheeks are entering into maturity. Even the men are at it. I admire Helen Mirren because she's honest. Unlike another younger national treasure that bangs on about hating plastic surgery but has done it and it's obvious. But there are some truly beautiful people amongst them.

Bluntness100 · 25/03/2017 06:08

I'm also not sure what the big deal is, does it matter if she or anyone else had Botox, why do you find it "suspect" ?

I get the impression you think there is something wrong or shameful about having Botox, there isn't, it's no more wrong or shameful than wearing make up or using skin cream.

I'd find something else to focus on.

LimeySnickett · 25/03/2017 06:28

No lines and over 40. But no contempt for women who have botox either. If I thought I needed it I would do it.

Adelie0404 · 25/03/2017 06:42

Well these are factors - Smoking (big one), bad diet, pollution etc
But I think genetics is a big factor - look at your mother!
Botox effect is weird IMHO!

I don't have many at 48 but they are on their way. I think my age shows around my eyes. They're sort of smaller and I have fine lines and the skin is a bit saggy. Ugh!

Kennington · 25/03/2017 06:44

Yes those pesky people with Botox!
Many people won't have lines anyway but and Botox is only obvious if the rest of the face is 'old' but the forehead is smooth.
It does create an overall facial imbalance.

Ca1ypso · 25/03/2017 06:46

I'm 40 and have had about 4 sessions of Botox now for forehead lines. I can still raise my eyebrows and frown, it's just smoother and more relaxed. I live in the Kensington area of London and would say most women I know have had something - Botox is the minimum Grin Its absolutely not the case that people go around with weird or frozen faces, you just get a minimal dose. It's gone after a few months anyway. I actually started having it as a preventative measure before the forehead lines were too noticeable. If you let yourself get deep frown furrows, then you're into filler territory.
I'll be absolutely honest and say that when you go to areas where Botox is not the norm, it is quite noticeable and people definitely look more tired and "older" in general.
Don't be suspicious about Botox - I'm sure the actresses you're talking about would freely admit to having had it and why not?

Oldsu · 25/03/2017 06:58

62, no lines or wrinkles, in fact my skin is very dewy and soft, its genetics, I look like my mum and my nan who both had skins like peaches up to their 80s, my younger sisters take after my dads side of the family who were wrinkled old prunes in their 40s - my sisters hate me Grin

Wheresthattomoibabber · 25/03/2017 06:59

This thread is two years old.

bluetongue · 25/03/2017 07:01

I'm 40. I do have a few forehead lines but no crows feet. I'm reliably informed that I look low 30's. In my case it's genetics, avoiding the sun and oily skin. On the flip side I have acne scars and am no oil painting so not much to be jealous of Grin

UnderTheDesk · 25/03/2017 07:03

Yep, I have Botox in my forehead and still have lines. Apparently I'd have to stick fillers in there if I wanted a completely smooth forehead, which I don't. I just wanted to stop the lines getting worse. I am 'blessed' with a very expressive face and dry skin.

Neither my husband nor my mother has noticed the Botox btw.

colleysmill · 25/03/2017 07:36

I've had deep furrows in my forehead since I was a teenager. Now I'm pushing late thirties I have lots of crows feet and crinkles especially when I concentrate or laugh. But I laugh a lot!

I'd agree with genetics though - I look just like my late grandmother and she was the same. However I always remember her with the kindest face so as long as mine looks kind too I'm going to avoid the Botox. I think ..... ;)

FloAndTheLaptop · 25/03/2017 08:15

"This thread is two years old." I wonder if any new lines have appeared in the meantime Wink

Mollieben · 25/03/2017 08:17

I'm 41 and have very few lines. My mum was the same. I have never particularly looked after my skin - i guess I'm just lucky 😉

DevelopingDetritus · 25/03/2017 08:30

Funny, I was watching a bit of Gogglebox last night and they were reviewing a crime drama I think it was. One of the characters in it had frozen forehead, I couldn't bloody concentrate on what I was watching!
The thing I'd like to know is, what are all these people going to look like in 20 or 30 plus years time. I think there's going to be a major meltdown in more ways than one.

Ragwort · 25/03/2017 08:31

Just seen it's an old thread but wanted to boast that I am 58 with no lines on my face (just had to peer in the mirror Grin) - but I am overweight, wonder if that has anything to do with it Grin. My close friend from school has a very, very lined face (but an incredibly slim figure).

bignamechangeroonie · 25/03/2017 08:38

46 year old forehead (mine!)

to be suspicious of older women with totally smooth foreheads!
SewMeARiver · 25/03/2017 08:42

Facial excercise! Helps if done consistently.
