Give me strength- holiday huff husband

tallulahturtle · 03/07/2015 07:27

Going on holiday today and now have a grumpy husband who is annoyed I woke up at 6 to go through my cases and try shave a few kilos off (flying Thomas Cook- how tight are they on weights?).
He is basically annoyed as it is the second week in a row where its been his day off and he has woken up and I havent been there. Last week I was up early packing as I woke up early naturally and I work long hours and have a horse so don't get much time to pack.

Basically he wants me to come back to bed and snuggle (shag) , i cant win, if i do go back to bed I will be running like a blue arsed fly later as i still have my horse to sort out before i go away and some washing to do. But if i leave now and go down the yard he will be in a strop.

I have tried explaining that i need these last few hours to sort everything before we go and that next week we can do all the snuggling and sleeping in he wants. Essentially he is annoyed as the two times we have been able to have a lie in together, i have been up early.

8 kg of smellies? EIGHT KILOS???

OnlyLovers · 03/07/2015 12:29

Sounds like 14stone or so you could shave off your luggage right there. I wouldn't be taking stroppy people on holiday with me.

This exactly. What a pig.

chippednailvarnish · 03/07/2015 12:31

You over pack. Lose the 8kg of smellies and the husband.

Job done.

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 03/07/2015 12:34

EIGHT KILOS - do tell. What on earth?

You are supposed to take the smellies out of the bathroom cabinet.

SayThisOnlyOnce · 03/07/2015 12:39

'shagged him to shut him up' - that is really really sad to hear. (NOT in a 'you're sad' way, in a concerned for you way.) You don't have to shag him ever if you don't want to.

shagged him to shut him up

If you had time to hold friend's hand through veterinary emergency, you probably didn't need to get up so early.

susiella · 03/07/2015 13:11

OP hope your friend's horse is ok in horsepital.
DawnOfTheDoggers I hear ya sister! If my ex had been aware of that law we maybe would be still together!!

emwithme · 03/07/2015 13:12

8 KILOS of smellies? WTAF?

I don't think I've got 8 kilos of smellies in my WHOLE house... obviously I'm a stinky bastard

toffeeboffin · 03/07/2015 13:13

Made my morning, this thread!

Horse, husband, shagging, suitcase, all fine and dandy, but 8 kilos??!

WTF?

Wellwellwell3holesintheground · 03/07/2015 13:25

I am imagining a case full of cut glass perfume bottles and giant bottles of shampoo.

mumeeee · 03/07/2015 13:30

YABU. To get up at 6am to repack cases. Sorting the horse out obviously needed to be done but you would have more time if you weren't having to repack cases.
I have now got down to traveling light. DH and I have one case between us when we go on holiday and are always with in weight although I do have a good sized hand luggage bag which I can put extras in.
How on earth do you have 8 Kilos of toiletries. I find most places we have stayed provide toiletries so I only take a small amount

GeekLove · 03/07/2015 13:31

Am I naïve in wondering why men get annoyed when their seduction techniques of sighing, sulking and huffing don't get them laid?

None of these ring my bell!

tallulahturtle · 03/07/2015 13:40

Hehe at airport now. I didn't wake him up , he woke up and realised I wasn't there.

If you have so little time, you would be better off spending 10 mins in advance thinking about what to take and making a list.

Then you only have to pack once not do this shaving weight off thing.

loveareadingthanks · 03/07/2015 14:17

'You are supposed to take the smellies out of the bathroom cabinet'. Grin

I sympathise with the husband, sorry. He wanted a nice relaxed start to holiday (OK unreasonable to sulk about shag) and instead there was his wife manically unpacking and repacking the packing she'd already done (badly) the week before! That would have wound me up too. Can't stand faffing about this sort of thing.

loveareadingthanks · 03/07/2015 14:25

Have a nice holiday anyway, bet you are all glad to be on your way.

Try and get a bit more organised about the packing. I'm taking what you said about husband with a pinch of salt, as I don't think you were really talking about a nasty situation, just a normal nice bloke frustrated with your faffing about.

Make a list next time. Then cross half the stuff off the list. Then pack what's left.

AnyFucker · 03/07/2015 15:53

the update could be interpreted that she is at the airport without him

that would be brilliant

I have three horses. I can pack in 20 minutes. Anyone coming on holiday with me can do their own damn packing while I muck out!

CakeNinja · 03/07/2015 20:29

Fucking hell, 8KG of shampoo and deodorant? That's just silly.
I take enough basics (and I mean minimal basics, toothpaste, shampoo, shower gel and deodorant) to keep us going for the first day. I buy travel sized. Then buy more of what we need when we need it.
Taking 8kg is frankly insane Confused that's virtually a whole hand luggage. I can pack for a week for myself in hand luggage. Toiletries included.

Topseyt · 03/07/2015 20:48

Don't you get about 20 kilos of baggage allowance? How on earth do you use all of that up? I have never even come near it.

You sound as though you make a huge song and dance over packing. If you are going to sunny climes then surely all you want is a few pairs of shorts, a few t-shirts, one good cardigan just in case, swimming costumes, towels, underwear and footwear (one pair of trainers and one pair of sandals)! Does that take a week to pack and weigh 20kgs? Confused

I could do it in an hour or two.

Still wouldn't bother with the morning shagtime though. Grin
