Would you REALLY appreciate a thank you gift of stationery supplies? As I think I really like this idea but don't want DS's teachers (who are lovely) to think WTF?

AIBU To remain unconvinced this would be popular?

I love stationary, wine and would love a cup with miss superram on it. Not flowers as they die when I'm on holiday and not chocolate as I'm fat enough!

P0llyP0cketR0cket · 01/07/2015 21:31

Actually windchine I get 10 weeks, but whatevs.

Xylophonejo · 01/07/2015 21:53

Yes please to stationery. Yes please to wine. Really yes please to a note from the child. But no thank you to home made cakes/biscuits/truffles/ whathaveyou. It's cute and I appreciate the thought, but sorry they go straight in the bin.

SoupDragon · 01/07/2015 22:00

I said this in the other thread... I hope none of you stationary fans are English teachers Wink

Wideopenspace · 01/07/2015 22:03

I enjoy standing still Soup.

I also enjoy decorative paper products.

PuntasticUsername · 01/07/2015 22:10

Boney I've no clue why but I read your post as asking for a retractable penis and I was all "ooh, that escalated quickly...".

Silvercatowner · 01/07/2015 22:11

I had my first gift - a fluffy pen! Stationery heaven!

MrsExcited · 01/07/2015 22:14

I would love pretty coloured pens for marking, I go through loads.

Cumbrae · 01/07/2015 22:26

Somewhere out there stationery manufacturers and CEOs are rubbing their little hands with glee.

TealFanClub · 01/07/2015 22:28

NO THANK YOU

I want wine

Twodogsandahooch · 01/07/2015 22:29

The poor teachers in my area are in for a treat. There is a whole lot of teacher present crap being touted on my local mums' Facebook page. Personalised wooden cutlass anyone??

TealFanClub · 01/07/2015 22:29

ffs school pays for stationery

I like wine chocs or a NICE LETTER ( copied into my boss)

I got a lovely card from a student and a huge box of chocs from on of my kid who conquered anorexia.

Cherriesandapples · 01/07/2015 22:30

Or you all could just stop receiving gifts! Unethical!

Iggi999 · 01/07/2015 22:36

I buy pens and notebooks all the time. Paper clips etc too. Not enough money anymore. And am in secondary so no bugger ever gives me a gift anyway.

ThoseAwfulCurtains · 01/07/2015 22:44

Arf@PuntasticGrin

TealFanClub · 01/07/2015 22:49

agree - secondary hardly get anything

Eebahgum · 01/07/2015 22:54

Love it when the "stop receiving gifts" brigade pop up on these threads. I'll look forward to seeing all my children's faces when they present me with a gift on the last day of term and I tell them I don't want it and they have to take it back home again

Cumbrae · 02/07/2015 00:13

Cherries in what way is it unethical?

It's not bribery, it's the end of term.

Layde · 02/07/2015 02:16

Yes, Yes, Yes...!

Another teacher who also loves stationery. As do most of my teacher colleagues. Females mainly, but some men too.

However, school often provides the boring stuff, but they don't provide the nice / interesting stationery. Things like nice purple pens, shaped post its etc would be lovely.

Wine also a winner.

I teach post 16, so get very few presents, but I was given a mini stapler this year that fits into my pencil case. I absoultely love it!

Alligatorpie · 02/07/2015 06:02

I have a generous classroom budget (private school) so don't need to scrounge for stationary, but still get ridiculously excited when a student gives me notebooks, markers or nice pens.

Ladyflip · 02/07/2015 06:12

My Mum taught me that stationery when referring to notebooks, letters etc. is easy to remember if you think of E for envelope. Stationary means "not moving". Blush

Alligatorpie · 02/07/2015 06:23

Thanks ladyflip. I travelled for 22 hours yesterday and have been up with dd2 since 3:30. I apologize for the typo - I do actually know the difference.
Posts like yours remind me why I seldom post on Aibu.

Ladyflip · 02/07/2015 06:45

Get over yourself. Lots of people have spelt it incorrectly. Lots of people, myself included, have had a hard week. As you all profess to be teachers, I thought it might help some of you to pass on ideas for correct ways to spell everyday words which are easily confused.

And it is apologise, unless you happen to be American. Which would explain the travelling, I guess.
