Would you REALLY appreciate a thank you gift of stationery supplies? As I think I really like this idea but don't want DS's teachers (who are lovely) to think WTF?

AIBU To remain unconvinced this would be popular?

Yes to stationery. Or wine, plants, flowers, mugs.

No to chocolate or cakes.

Big yes to a little card or letter telling me how much your child has enjoyed their year (hopefully) :)

cariadlet · 01/07/2015 17:51

I'm a teacher - honestly love nice stationery. So good to have something that's pretty and useful. I got very jealous yesterday of the little girl who showed me the lovely owl-themed stationery set that she'd had for her birthday.

junebirthdaygirl · 01/07/2015 18:01

Just finished for holiday. Godt owl themed stationary which my dd 22 nabbed straight away as soon as saw it. Ever since she was little she watches to see if l get any nice stationary and we share!

spanieleyes · 01/07/2015 18:01

Oh yes, I spend a FORTUNE on stationery, it would be lovely if someone bought it for me!!

downgraded · 01/07/2015 18:03

Yes!

You know teachers only teach for the stationery and the holidays, right? Wink

Yarp · 01/07/2015 18:06

IME, teachers are very organised (have to be), and creative. So stationery ideal

Flisspaps · 01/07/2015 18:11

DH says nah. He gets stationery through school orders Grin

Just a card is nice, if you feel the need to get anything at all.

Suefla62 · 01/07/2015 18:13

Stationery is a godsend! Only thing I wouldn't want is anything with the word "teacher" on it.

DaisyDando · 01/07/2015 18:14

Pens are our friends.

Eebahgum · 01/07/2015 18:29

Another stationary fan here. And I'll add a few extra votes on behalf of my other teacher friends who share my abnormal passion for nice stationary.

mayfridaycomequickly · 01/07/2015 18:42

Sorry - my teeth are itching. .. it's stationery, not stationary!

maddy68 · 01/07/2015 18:53

As a teacher I don't care what I get. It's just so lovely to feel appreciated
Thank you x

ElviraCondomine · 01/07/2015 18:59

Yes to stationery. I work in an institution where even white board markers are like gold dust. It's sad but I love my kit of useful things.

PumpkinPie2013 · 01/07/2015 18:59

Another teacher here who loves stationery Smile

I could spend my salary on stationery and can never have too much of it Smile

43cupsoftea · 01/07/2015 19:09

Yes!! Coloured gel pens, post-it notes in funny shapes! I also have a pen pot that is a painted jam jar, one of my faves and I have used it on every desk. Do you know, half a dozen pritt sticks with my name on would be AMAZING. How sad is that?! I do also like wine Grin.

windchime · 01/07/2015 19:13

I want wine please. Or food

And six weeks paid leave, no doubt Confused

rollonthesummer · 01/07/2015 19:14

Post it notes shaped like speech bubbles (very useful for displays), proper Pritt Sticks (not cheapo versions that go hard!) and a red and black pen for the register somehow attached to a lanyard would also be good!

MummySparkle · 01/07/2015 19:18

I'm a TA and I lurrrrrrrve stationery! Nice pens, named ones are always awesome! I need more pen pots on my desk, and post-it-notes disappear when we turn our backs here. I'd love a long thin notebook that I can write to-do lists in.

Or chocolate. Or mugs. Mugs seem to grow legs and run away in our department. I sneak into the deputy heads office from time to time to round up our mugs, they always end up there!!

Pointlessfan · 01/07/2015 19:20

Yes I'd love that!

JumpingJetFlash · 01/07/2015 19:25

Yep stationery is a winner - really miss being a teacher mainly for the excuse of buying stationery :-)

Cumbrae · 01/07/2015 19:28

windchime

You really are very upset about the six weeks leave thing aren't you?

You know that you could go and train as a teacher if you wanted seeing as the leave is so appealing...

No, thought not.

Ps I'm not a teacher I just appreciate their hard work and the fact that they'll spent at least half that leave prepping for next year.

lbnblbnb · 01/07/2015 19:34

windchime - come and join us, see the reality, that is why so many teachers are leaving the profession....
Obviously one cannot speak for every teacher every, but it is almost universal that teachers love stationery.

BoneyBackJefferson · 01/07/2015 20:11

windchime

Once again for those that profess a knowledge and don't have a clue.

Teachers are paid during the holidays not for the holidays.

Teachers are paid for 1265 hours per year split over twelve months.

BoneyBackJefferson · 01/07/2015 20:12

OP, any stationary is good I particularly like retractable pens.

colourdilemma · 01/07/2015 20:14

I would absolutely love it!
