he will say things about someone then say, he's my age [meaning his]

when I ask him if he remembers such and such from childhood days, he will say oh that was before my time, as if I'm a completey different generation to him or something

Very odd. I'm 6 years younger than dp and not once has he talked about it in that way. Occasionally he has drawn a blank face when I quote a film and I tease him about it being before his time and he pretends to mind. He refers to people as our age.

My sister is 18 months older than me and I definitely refer to "my age" versus "her age".

She remembers different things to me so it definitely makes a difference.

I personally think you're the one being odd about it so YABU. Add to that, I read somewhere that men are emotionally and mentally 2 years younger than their opposite-sex counterparts... so he's effectively 3 1/2 years younger than you :P

my ex sil was like this

I am 3 years older and when we were only like, 22 and 25 or so, she would constantly refer to people being "her age" and "my age" like oh we really get on with so and so cos they are "our age"

like she really wanted to make me feel old or herself feel young ironically I saw her recently and I probably look younger than she does now ha
