You did indeed acknowledge it, Annie. I wasn't intending to be patronising, just pointing out that you had been unnecessarily rude (IMO).

Yes they bloody do Night , I have one.

^^ That came across as rude to me, within a perfectly harmless (and meant to be helpful, for the OP) debate.

Just my thoughts . . . Smile

How badly damaged is it? Can you still read the numbers on it and so spend it online?

Tearsofthemushroom · 24/06/2015 17:11

JL doesn't track all of the vouchers that get processed through it's branches so they would have no way of telling if it had been used or not. They just use the number to make sure the voucher isn't used twice online. That is why it is invalid if you have scratched off the silver coating.

After this thread, my only thought is 'don't piss off JL customers, they're scary'. Shock

Why is it bad customer service...., it's the customer who destroyed it, don't see why they should pay for someone else being careless

ChocolateWombat · 24/06/2015 19:14

Surely the voucher has a barcode which is scanned, so they know it has been used?
It seems unlikely that as these are computer generated, they cannot track their use in store as well as online?

I think they are not obliged to replace the voucher....indeed, in the small print on the back, it prob says that damaged, defaced or lost vouchers cannot be replaced. However, if they CAN track them and know they haven't been lost, they could choose to replace it as a courtesy to the customer.

However I don't think the customer has a right have a replacement. And yes, JL is known for good customer care, but as long as it was clearly stated somewhere that lost or damaged vouchers won't be replaced, they are sticking to their policy and although it is really annoying, the OP will just have to love with it.
