that's all. Not properly angry, just a little bit irritated every time. I guess I should shop at Rymans and Staples instead

Savers is a nightmare for trying to get you to buy extra stuff at the tills....and as for W H Smith i'm surprised it is still trading...everything they sell is available cheaper elsewhere....I buy my kids stationery at Wilkinsons and books, dvd's etc online x

OrangeVase · 23/06/2015 20:40

Agree. Hate the vouchers. Too complicated and I always feel as if I have got a bad deal becasue I can't use them. If I buy printer cartridges at vast expense because I need them now but I could have got money off them if I could buy them next week - but only of I'd already bought something this week.....
Just have a fair pricing policy FFS

I did go in today but couldn't get to the magazine aisle as it was blocked by a huge sales stand manned by two salespeople obviously trying to sell something I didn't want but so intimidating & I avoided them by going all the way to the other end of he aisle to come back to the mags without having to push past them!

Wtf?!

JointheJoyride · 25/06/2015 22:26

I remember posting on a thread last year about how much I dislike WH Smith and all these reasons were listed. I'm sure someone tweeted them the thread...they aren't paying attention to what people are saying at all are they!

kennyp · 25/06/2015 22:27

tom stade (comedian) did a very funny thing about the £5 off No.7 make up vouchers from boots. not sure if it's on youtube. it's bloody funny though.

i'd sooner a free tv guide than a fiver off makeup which i never wear anyway. (first world problems)

ScorpioMermaid · 25/06/2015 23:50

Do you know what I hate about WHSmith.. the bloody person/people at the door that swoop in and try and get you to sign up for something. pisses me right off. DH had a go at one last time we went in, they asked us on the way in and on the way out - same person. Angry

MrsRossPoldark · 26/06/2015 07:37

on top of that, in my town centre, there's a 4-way 'pedestrian crossroads' with a square in the middle, which was manned yesterday by salespeople for AgeConcern - one on each road and two in the square so whichever way you went, you were accosted by someone, and if you pop into several shops, you're approached every time you pop your head out of each shop!

At the other end of town [I go right through the shopping centre to get home from work] there's a stand right in the middle of the exit with 3 salespeople, so you get accosted there too. I am starting to find a trip into town very uncomfortable: instead of a nice relaxing mooch, it has turned into a 'dodgeball' session!

Bought an item there last week, got money off vouvher. Can't use it until Monday. In the mean time have found everything I need on Amazon, cheaper, with free delivery. Your loss WHS.

Figmentofmyimagination · 26/06/2015 09:18

Self service checkouts deserve a thread all of their own. I hate them and will never use them. It is funny that (at least for now) the queue for the real person is often much shorter. If there is no choice but a self service check out I put the stuff back and leave. If we all did this they would disappear.
Bill bailey on self service checkouts - "something unexpected in the bagging area" - is very funny.

CalebWomble · 26/06/2015 09:24

Best/worst piece of paper is the "£15 off your first online shop" that Sainsburys give us every time they deliver our online shopping.

sainsbury's annoy me, too many bits of paper, I don't need one telling me it was 1p cheaper shopping there today ffs. also the vouchers that give you 10 extra points or something if you spend £6,000 on the next shop THEN all the bloody vouchers can't be used online which is where I usually do my shopping so they are useless.

FarFromAnyRoad · 26/06/2015 09:47

That Twitter link - thanks for that! Just lost 20 minutes I'll never get back!

Self-service checkout. Boom.

OwlsEscapade · 26/06/2015 10:10

I think the self service checkout asks if you want some extras and it still spews out all the paper crap. Wink Sad

CalebWomble · 26/06/2015 12:02

Sainsburys self service definitely gives you loads of pieces of paper. I still shop with them, despite the moaning.
