To suggest all user names are restricted to 8 letters & easily abbreviated?

It's a bit annoying having to type out a really long user name - have a user name that's easy on the eye and the finger - or if you insist on going over the top, choose a name that can be easily abbreviated.

.

YABVVVU.

ToadsJustFellFromTheSky · 20/06/2015 13:00

And YY to just copy and paste.

That's what I do and I thought everybody did.

Gruntfuttock · 20/06/2015 13:02

Well, people usually call me Grunt on here, but think yourself lucky I don't use the name I had on another (now defunct) board. That was 'Sir Gladys Gruntfuttock (deceased)'.

I haven't got a mobile phone and forget that 'copy and paste' isn't possible for everyone.

LikeIcan · 20/06/2015 13:05

Yes Mardy I agree - I worded it slightly wrong.
But think about those abbreviations too.

'BrilliantUniqueMind' for example.

We'd end up so fecking boring usernames if that happened. Just pick a word and go with it. With mine, it's just Tali

Seriouslyffs · 20/06/2015 13:11

OP, I read your name as Likel can As in baby speak for little
I'm so sorry.

GiddyOnZackHunt · 20/06/2015 13:12

Yabu. Took me ages to sort this one out.

FuzzyWizard · 20/06/2015 13:14

YABU

IsadoraQuagmire · 20/06/2015 14:59

JassyRadlett I wouldn't call you Jessy. Jassy is the Radlett I like the best (far more than Linda, who irritates me!) Grin

BaronessBomburst · 20/06/2015 15:06

Eight?
What will all the other Baronesses do?

YABU.

MitzyLeFrouf · 20/06/2015 15:10

YABU

And I preferred to be referred to as MitzyLeFrouf at all times. Mitzy is far too familiar.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 20/06/2015 15:14

Jassy, turn your phone landscape and you'll see the whole name Smile

WhenMarnieWasThere · 20/06/2015 15:18

Pourquoi. ... Mika fan by any chance?

BIWI · 20/06/2015 15:22

That's one of the main reasons why I'm BIWI - couldn't be bothered to keep typing out BecauseImWorthIt!

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 20/06/2015 15:24

Derek I switch between shortening you to Derek or to ESD.

I answer to Hearts or HTD. I don't mind long usernames. 8 characters would be waaaay to short anyways.

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 20/06/2015 15:24

Oh hi BIWI how the heck are you?

BIWI · 20/06/2015 15:25

Hi Hearts! Good thanks. And you?

JassyRadlett · 20/06/2015 15:52

Oh my god, Polkadots, you are a genius. (Or I am thick. Or both.)

Isadora, she was utterly the best. Far better than Linda or Fanny.

BabyMurloc · 20/06/2015 15:52

YABU It's one of my favourite parts of MN.

SoldierBear · 20/06/2015 15:56

Mardy - Euphemia is often shortened to Effie, Phemie or Faye. I've never met a Euphemia who used the full thing!
[misses point of thread, but as two of my four names are longer than eight letters doesn't actually care]

Crocodopolis · 20/06/2015 15:57

You can shorten my username to 'Naughty Lola' if you like.

waves to Derek, who always makes me laugh

Sparklin · 20/06/2015 17:43

Not sure i like it. Sad

MrsTerryPratchett · 20/06/2015 17:52

g. There, that was making me sad.

I will accept Terry or MrsTP. I don't like mrsterry because it's too mysterious.

LikeIcan · 20/06/2015 17:57

Sparklin - I like it Smile
