To hate this new trend for people using the word "think" unnecessarily

I've only noticed this over the last couple of months. This kind of thing:

"I work in an office - think blue chip multinational"

What's wrong with saying "I work in an office for a blue chip multinational"

Or:

"You may be entitled to a parking space if you are a healthcare professional - think Doctor, nurse or midwife".

What's wrong with "You may be entitled to a parking space if you are a healthcare professional such as a doctor, nurse or midwife."?

Does anyone else hate it? Am I alone here? Think - nobody agrees with me.

I got mildly annoyed the other day in my car - think very minor road rage incident.

So yes, I kind of know what you're saying but I find it hard to care - think disinterested - because it doesn't really affect my life. But if it annoys you you can't help that I suppose. C'est vraiment tres annoyante!

What does annoy me though is people using the verb 'to love' in the present continuous tense. 'I'm loving the new Daniel O'Donnell album' for example. What's wrong with 'I love the new Daniel O'Donnell album'?

It's "In terms of" that's really getting my goat at the mo. Watch any news programme or anything with interviews and just count how many times people say it. It's getting ridiculous!

Yes, it drives me nuts. Sounds really pompous to me when I read it in any post. It's in the same drawer as saying 'IMHO'. Of course it's your bleeding opinion, that's given. You wouldn't be stating someone else's opinion without explanation, would you?

The one that's really getting on my wick is "for me". People use it unnecessarily, to show, I think, that they appreciate other people feel differently. It just weakens everything and makes it too personal. Gah!

I've only ever heard the think thing on MN, not heard it in real life, think normal people.

It's bloody annoying though.
