Context: I'm a SAHM, 2 under 5, on playgroup, pre-school run & day out days, I dress smart. If we're having a home day getting messy baking & playing on the floor etc, I wear what I like to call my 'lounge outfit.' Grin essentially pj trousers & top. But, importantly I think, I have sets of pjs that I designate as lounge outfits & therefore never sleep in, so to me, they aren't pjs. Anyway, DM carefully suggested to me this morning that I should 'get dressed' so that I when answer the door I'm not in my pjs. She said staying in my pjslounge outfit all day sends the message that I don't care. My point is a. they aren't y pjs as I don't sleep in them and b. It's my house, I want to feel comfortable playing at home with my kids & I don't care what the postman thinks when I answer the door. AIBU? AIBSlovenly?!

Comfort is key. Also for me the brighter the clothes he better. Am sat in stripy socks with pigs on, orange top with big sleeves and tartan bottoms......

Ok so an update as the saga continues....this may out me but here goes After the school run, I jump back into lounge outfit (Boden jammie bottoms, M&S thermal tshirt)...friend turns up unexpectedly to drop something off, we chat at the door & she goes on her way. Anyway, DH chatting on phone to her DH at the end of the day, one of the first things friend's DH says to my DH is 'your wife was still in her pjs at 9am this morning!' DH was like 'LOUNGE OUTFIT! IT'S HER LOUNGE OUTFIT!' See the implication of slovenliness?! I'm starting to feel vilified...that's my DM, both my inlaws, the postman & now friends' DH...am I doomed to live in shame & never answer my front door?! Should I embrace it & raid Primark for superhero lounge outfits and answer the door proud & defiant?!! I want to do the latter ????
