AIBU to ask if anyone here has had anything done? If so, were you happy with the outcome?

I had a breast reduction (so not strictly cosmetic) and I'm thrilled. My girlfriend loves them to.

Mermaidhair · 16/06/2015 01:38

Breast augmentation, 10 years later I am still thrilled. I had lip fillers a few weeks ago, and am very happy. What are you considering having done op?

Mermaidhair · 16/06/2015 01:48

And I don't look fake. Breasts have been re inflated to pre breastfeeding size. Lips are very very thin, just got a small amount to define the edges a little.

Talismania · 16/06/2015 02:30

I had veneers on my teeth. Well worth the rather eye watering expense of it! Got the ones that don't need your teeth to be shaved though so at least they can come off in the future and I'm not going to be left with stumpy teeth.

Effendi · 16/06/2015 06:20

I had breast augmentation 10 years ago. Not one regret . Also have had Botox, acid peel and fillers .

Aridane · 16/06/2015 08:16

Happy with teeth whitening, and Botox and fillers - but don't really regard that as cosmetic surgery...

ilovesooty · 16/06/2015 08:20

Ariadne why wouldn't you regard those as cosmetic?

ilovesooty · 16/06/2015 08:20

Aridane sorry.

Aridane · 16/06/2015 08:33

Ilovesooty - yes, I regard them as cosmetic (totally), just not 'surgery'

BTW - I was supposed to be an 'Ariadne' but made a typo when I first registered on Mumsnet. Grin

WhereTheFuckIsMyFuckingCoat · 16/06/2015 08:37

Not strictly cosmetic, but since having had a double mastectomy last year, I am due to have a bilateral tram flap reconstruction later this year. It's where they use all the excess skin and fat from your abdomen to make you new breasts. I'm torn over what size of breasts to go for.

HellKitty · 16/06/2015 08:40

I had my nose done 20 years ago. He took the slight 'hook' off the end but I've never been happy with his work. I really want a new nose and have just persuaded DP that it would make me happy (happier).

DuchessofNorks · 16/06/2015 09:09

I had a non surgical nose job, basically filler in places to make it look straighter in profile. It was temporary of course, until I could afford a real one.

I am still waiting for it. I am booking a consultation in the next few months though, and aim to have a new nose for christmas!

legolegolego · 16/06/2015 09:18

talis do you mind me asking what veneers those were? I want need veneers but I'm horrified at the thought of having my teeth filed away.

KateSpade · 16/06/2015 09:26

Talis I also would like to hear the answers to the questions lego asked, but do you mind me asking how much you paid?

Very cheeky I know, but it's something I've always wanted!

bluejeanswhiteshirt · 16/06/2015 09:49

This was more cosmetic dentistry than surgery but I had composite bonding on my two front teeth to cover chips and uneven edges. Much less expensive than veneers and completely reversible with no loss of tooth. Probably won't last as long but cheap enough to replace every 10-15 years depending on how well they're looked after.

oldjoanie · 16/06/2015 14:51

Thanks for the replies!! I'm strongly considering cheek fillers and a tca peel but have never had anything done before. Would consider a facelift at some point too, way down the line, would be curious to hear if anyone's had anything like that done!!

Ariadne were you happy with the results? Was there anything about the outcome that you weren't expecting? How have friends and family reacted (if they've noticed at all!)? Sorry, hope you don't mind all the questions!!

notsogoldenoldie · 16/06/2015 14:58

I'm seriously considering a "lunchtime" facelift to the bottom of my face. Cost: about £1500. Minimally invasive. I've had Botox and fillers in the past. I like the sound of composite bonding on teeth.

oldjoanie · 16/06/2015 15:03

notso what does that involve?? And how was your experience with fillers??

Branleuse · 16/06/2015 15:06

I had breast uplift and implants about 5 years ago, which im mostly delighted with. My poor old boobs took a complete battering with gaining and losing 7 or 8 cup sizes with each pregnancy, and it bothered me a lot, Couldnt bear the thought of having boobs like that for the rest of my life, so once id finished feeding my last child, I looked into it, and saved up.

Only thing else ive had done is i tried botox and fillers once, but whilst it looked nice, it doesnt last long enough for it to be worth the money.

Stinkylinky · 16/06/2015 15:08

My mum had a botched facelift when she was younger, there was a huge scandal regarding the surgeon and I remember him being all over the news at the time. She was left with bad scarring but now works in the cosmetic surgery field and passionate when it comes to making sure her clients are matched to the correct surgeon for them and their needs.

Number3cometome · 16/06/2015 15:24

Breast uplift and implants after EBF two babies for 10 months.

Had the surgery 5 years ago.

They were a wreck, best thing I ever spent £5k on.

currently 35+2 and planning on EBF again, and worried for my boobies

oldjoanie · 16/06/2015 15:39

stinkylinky love the name btw - was watching ZAMMAP just the other day Smile

And sorry to hear about your mom's experience, that sounds terrible. Did the surgeon get struck off or anything for it?

NRomanoff · 16/06/2015 15:43

I am not sure actually. I had my nose done (due to several breaks in my late teens) and boobs reduced. Some people don't class that as cosmetic surgery. I consider the boobs cosmetic surgery and to some degree the nose to, though it was causing breathing problems. Very very happy with the results from both.
