To think that if you have a tail it's your responsibility to look after it?

A tail owning member of my family has just sworn at me and assaulted me because I accidentally stood on it. He thinks it was entirely my fault and is now sulking. I think that if you have a tail it's up to you not to put it where someone could stand on it while merely getting the milk out of the fridge. Who is BU?

If the tail owner is a cat then YABU - YOU are always U and don't forget it.

If the tail is attached to a dog then YANBU and the dog will probably be on here later admitting his/her unreasonableness.

Tail owners in this house have decided to operate an earlier alarm call by thumping said tails on the radiator a good hour before the normal alarm goes off. The looks given when asked to be quiet could turn you to stone....

Andrewofgg · 06/06/2015 10:43

Cats are by definition NBU. Ever. You are.

SoozeyHoozey · 06/06/2015 10:44

Cat is l king/queen, you are human slave, you are always unreasonable by default.

Mrsjayy · 06/06/2015 10:46

Of course its your fault silly human Grin

CherryLips1980 · 06/06/2015 10:47

I can hire my 18mo? Our two feline tail owners have learnt to whisk their tails away as anyone approaches. Just in case.

KurriKurri · 06/06/2015 10:49

A tail owner I once lived with suffered with 'tail with a life of it's own, nothing to do with me syndrome'.

Tail in question was very long and hairy, when the owner got excited (all the time) said tail would swish wildly from side to side knocking everything off every surface, hitting small children in the face etc etc. Tail owner would look round in surprise with a 'what on earth is going on behind me' look on her face. Then wander off leaving mayhem in her wake Grin

"A tail owner I once lived with suffered with 'tail with a life of it's own, nothing to do with me syndrome'."

We used to live with one of those poor creatures. Every so often he'd catch sight of his tail behind him and jump with alarm as though he was thinking 'who the hell are you and why do you keep following me?'.

goodasitgets · 06/06/2015 11:03

I trod on a feline tail this week Sad
Obviously my own fault for not spotting the black cat. At 2am. With no streetlights outside

BreadmakerFan · 06/06/2015 11:11

YABU. Obviously. Have you forgotten you are the slave to the tail owner ?Grin

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 06/06/2015 11:17

This is one reason I keep guinea-pigs.............no pesky tails to worry about Grin

Though years ago , we bought a young female who was already pg and got a female piglet (BOGOF). She had a 'tail' , an extra long spine really.

A tail owner I once lived with suffered with 'tail with a life of it's own, nothing to do with me syndrome'*

I used to have one of those too, could sweep coffee tables and swish the face of small children, causing giggles as "it tickles" Greatly missed. Sad

Op, YABU it's totally your fault, you knew this family member has a tail, so you shoudl be "tail aware" at all times!

BigChocFrenzy · 06/06/2015 12:46

YABVU! The cat is boss; you are the can-opener

To think that if you have a tail it's your responsibility to look after it?
paddypants13 · 06/06/2015 13:02

Livia - yipes, you are right! Best that I change my identity and do a runner rather than risk the wrath of the cat! Wink

mugglingalong · 06/06/2015 13:22

You need our amnesic cat. You can tread on her tail/ paw/ vital organs. You can even sit on her. She will squark, stomp off and then 2 minutes later will be back under the same feet which just trod on her. On the other hand one that learns not to get in the way like our scaredy cat could also solve your problem. He just runs if he sees people and will only approach if they are already sitting down.

quietasamouse · 06/06/2015 13:28

All of your lovely pet stories just make me want one myself even more!

Sadly I don't have a garden Sad

QuintShhhhhh · 06/06/2015 13:31

Same goes for owners of feet. How dare they put their feet where you may thread?

ancientbuchanan · 06/06/2015 13:37

Hang on, let's get this right.

All tail owners are entitled.
Entitled to everything.

Bipeds with no wings are there to serve (bipeds with wings to be eaten).

This is the universal law. UABVU. And breaking that law.

KingJoffreyLikesJaffaCakes · 06/06/2015 15:03

One of my tail owners squeaks when his tail is trodded on.

He then stands and waits for an apology hug.

Laladeepsouth · 06/06/2015 15:31

Of course YABU. And careless. So very careless.

DollsHouseTeaParty · 06/06/2015 15:59

I trod on my black cat's tail once as I didn't see him (laying on a dark carpet with the blinds shut, very early one morning) and he shrieked as if I had tried to ritually disembowel him through his ears and my now-ex came roaring downstairs to find out why I was torturing my cat!

"Er no, I was going for a wee and didn't see him" got ignored as he petted the tail owner, hugged and kissed him while getting some chicken from the fridge to appease his Lordship who kept sending me malevolent glares in between precious morsels!

IsadoraQuagmire · 06/06/2015 16:11

A dog will forgive you quite quickly. A cat will bear a grudge forever and take its revenge when you least expect it...

helenahandbag · 06/06/2015 16:18

My poor tail owner has his docked when he was tiny, which I really hate. We rescued him from a horrible family who were breeding for pure profit and he was ill with food allergies and riddled with worms when we got him at ten weeks old Sad he is 2 now and luckily he has always had a clean bill of health at check ups.

He doesn't seem to miss the rest of his tail, he just uses what he has left to whack my face with when he curls up on my shoulder. He's not as small and unbothersome as he believes he is either Hmm

Sunsoo · 06/06/2015 16:53

I would advise your cat to LTB!
