To cry when I hold my sleeping child because I love them so much?

Sometimes when I'm holding my sleeping child, I hold them so tight and think about how much I love them and I end up weeping. Am I alone?
@Drivingmeupthewall ah, so glad your little pip is so good. Please don’t doubt yourself, of course you are enough. You are his mum and that means you are perfect for him and he was made especially for you. It was meant to be.
Thank you. I’m going to go and look at him now. Smile

I would have been right there with your 6 years ago. Now dd is just about 13. And I’m, well, so annoying if I try anything like that…. Thanks not so little one. 😩

@3scape I hope things improve for you and DD soon.
Wow OP responded to the bumped zombie. That is cool. 😎

@Bellaboosmum1

How lovely to see you've replied. Thank you. Baby is 6 days old now. The best way to describe it is when I look at my baby I feel so much relief (also a rainbow 🌈 after so much yearning the past 8 years) that it's like all the feelings of what I went through to get baby here come pouring out and I think about how blessed I am and how much love I feel.... but it has me sobbing and feeling really out of control, so not a nice feeling! Actually it started the day when my milk came in like you said too.

@Bellaboosmum1 and all the very kind mums who replied after I resurrected this in 2021 with my newborn. I'm back again with newborn baby 2 and so overwhelmed with the intense madness that is the hormone drop. I can't get through a few hours without crying over how quickly babyhood goes and how much I'll miss them when they're all grown up! I can't believe it's been over 18m since I first felt love like it.

Bellaboosmum1 · 07/03/2023 18:19

Hey again @Flittingaboutagain Congratulations on your new little one! Enjoy every single tear and the slow days. We know the hormones will pass and (like you say) so will the years. Before you know it, you’re yelling ‘get your shoes on!’ That’s enough to make anyone cry. So happy for you ❤️❤️❤️❤️ (Mine are 10 and 8 now!) xx

Ah lovely to hear from you. The shoes comment made me chuckle. The overwhelming feelings of love/gratitude/fear of how quickly it'll go have been so intense today I've been a wreck but midwife was very empathetic and has echoed your comments.

Unbelievable your eldest is nearing the end of primary!
