Nearly at the end of dc3 pregnancy, haven't been able to shave my legs in nearly 2 months and as for the lady garden - well its more of a forest. Others in my fb group that are due same time are worried about the grooming. I couldn't give a flying fuck really be bothered trying to get into yoga positions to groom. IANBU am I Grin

I shaved my legs and trimmed the garden... They recommend not to shave or wax anyways as the hair will help in protection against any infections. If you need a section they will shave you anyways.

monkeysox · 30/05/2015 21:52

No they won't, not a bit of shaving for my section. just trim the undercarriage I'm case of them being pulled during examinations.

TheSkiingGardener · 30/05/2015 21:54

If you spend your life pulling babies out of a women's nether regions you really are only going to notice the lady garden for maybe the first day or two.

After that one bush will be very like another I should imagine.

thelittlebooktroll · 30/05/2015 21:56

You could decorate with glitter and tinsels and I doubt they will take much notice.

BathshebaDarkstone · 30/05/2015 21:56

I always let it grow when I was heavily pregnant. I got DH to cut my toenails.

morelikeguidelines · 30/05/2015 21:56

I never considered trimming my lady garden for labour and it is very full. I did shave my legs but I do that fairly often anyway.

UnspecialSnowflake · 30/05/2015 21:59

I have a close relative who's a midwife. Trust me, they couldn't give a tiny rats arse about the hairyness or not of your lady garden.

Anydrinkwilldo · 30/05/2015 22:06

I groomed for ds1 and for ds2 didn't get a chance. I said to dh with legs akimbo while getting stitched I hadn't a chance to shave my legs. Midwife thought this was funny told me she not looking at anything external GrinBlush I did say in the discussion not to bother and that at this stage could do more harm (cutting with razor etc) but was shouted down!!

Dh is going to have to do my toenails. He did offer to shave my legs but I'm thinking that may be one step too far

I remember having dc1 and not shaving. When I ended up having caesarean they were talking about shaving me as I was really hairy.

I was too out of it to speak, but I remember the shame!

maras2 · 31/05/2015 01:01

I have no choice.Since my menopause my body hair regulates its self. It's good in a weird way. Grin

Szeli · 31/05/2015 02:43

DH tidied up for me. no shaving for my cs tho

aurynne · 31/05/2015 06:23

I am a midwife and believe me, I could have the female version of Bigfoot 10 cm away from my face and not notice... our attention is very much on the birth. Of the last 10 births I was at, I could not tell you whether any of the mums had any pubic/leg hair or not.

One of my midwife friends told us once that, right after a 34 hour labour and birth, the mum commented to her: "you didn't mention anything about my Brazilian!". She had no idea what she was talking about, and had not noticed at all.

OllyBJolly · 31/05/2015 07:12

A lady I worked with told me that when she gave birth the conversation went like this:

Midwife " I can see a lovely head of hair"
Doctor "No wonder - look at the mother's legs"

This was in the olden days but I did make sure my legs were done pre birth. Lady gardening I did not discover until much later.

Anydrinkwilldo · 31/05/2015 12:54

Olly ShockShock the doctor would have been thrown out fairly lively if they mentioned anything like that. Had to ROFL at the brazillion comment Grin

In our local hospital it is standard practice to tidy up if there is a possibility of a section. My midwife confirmed it when she was prepping me & didn't have to as I'd trimmed (with huge difficulty but felt v conscious of it). Midwife said I was well prepared & in my pethidine addled state I replied "yes, like a girl guide" ConfusedBlush

AntiHop · 31/05/2015 21:41

Yanbu. I didn't groom. I never remove my pubic hair and I did not to prepare for labour. My legs were hairy too.

foreverton · 31/05/2015 22:39

I wasn't groomed either!! Remember being high as a kite on the gas and air worrying about my hairy legs and my privets needing a trim!

Midwife couldn't care less, she was too busy listening to me singing MC hammer's "u can't touch this" oh the irony of that choice of song:)

SaucyJack · 31/05/2015 22:41

I grew mine back for labour. I felt a bit more covered with a fringe.

Moomintroll85 · 31/05/2015 23:22

Yanbu. Groomed or not, either is fine. It's up to you.

Choose your preference but I really don't think this is something people should feel worried about ahead of giving birth. It is not at all important in my view.

LuluJakey1 · 31/05/2015 23:23

DH shaved my legs and did a quick trim on the lady garden. It was starting to feel like a fur coat.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 31/05/2015 23:25

Do what you like but I can't imagine a doctor or midwife will be offended by a bit of hair, after all they all seemed to cope before the done thing was to be as bare as a bowling ball.

If you need a section they only shave a minute amount at the top.

TheRoseAndTheFire · 31/05/2015 23:31

I groomed for DC1. I shaved my legs, waxed my pubes and even had a pedi so my toes would look nice if my feet ended up in stirrups. Hmm

What a colossal waste of time that was. When push came to shove (quite literally) the very last thing on my mind was the state of my pubic hair. Didn't bother for DC2. I imagine that for midwives, since a large part of your job involves peering at vaginas then you've probably seen every possible style of pubic topiary and really don't give it a second thought.

SpendSpendSpend · 31/05/2015 23:35

I shaved completely the day before being induced. I ended up with lots of internal examinations and a section and was so glad i had shaved

mammmamia · 31/05/2015 23:35

Going against the grain here but I had a full leg and bikini wax the day before my c section for twins. I was at full term and very, very big. The waxing lady was Shock at my size and worried I would break the table. I insisted though and I felt great when i went in knowing it was all tidy. Personal thing though

WendyTorrance · 31/05/2015 23:42

Another midwife here. I can honestly say that I've never noticed the condition of any woman's 'lady garden'. I did think about sorting my own out prior to labour but was too bloody lazy and once labour started I didn't give a shite what the he'll it looked like 'down there'.
