To bring our almost 8 month old to A&E or not?

Hello ladies

I'm posting for my wife. Tonight when we were getting out almost 8 month old baby changed on the floor of his nursery, our floors are carpeted and he was on his play mat, while sitting him up to get changed when he pushed himself back onto the floor (about 3 or 4 inches would be correct to him sitting up) and hit the back of his head, he'd done something similar with me when he was five months during the day but showed no signs and was alert. My wife dove in and grabbed him and he didn't cry but now she's panicking in case it has damaged him, though she put him down to sleep.

After a few minutes she l'd worked herself up and went to pick him up to check for signs but It's a tough situation because he's already tired since it was his bed time and he had his bath so when my wife picked him up it took him a few moments to come round, rubbing his eyes and eventually opening them and crying because she had woke him. He was trying to hide his face in her shirt and closing his eye to go back to sleep so when she bounced him up and down he cried for the simple fact (in my opinion) to go back to sleep so we agreed to leave him for an hour and check on him regularly and wake him up again in an hour's time.
Please ladies could you give us some advice/reassurance as this really is a tough one for her. It's our first child and much tried for child.

Our HV came round last week as we've just moved to a new area and I'm heavily pregnant. 18 month old DD was sporting a huge bump to her forehead. HV didn't even flinch, just said 'you've got a lot of that to come over the next few years'. DD is a climber.

I remember DS falling backwards from sitting onto a hard concrete floor, covered with a thin carpet. He was about 6 months old or so. We were at some sort of baby group, and I felt dreadful. One of the other mums was a GP on maternity leave, she just commented on how robust babies were.

I don't understand threads like this.

If you are worried, take your DS to hospital. None of the posters on MN were there so can't asses the seriousness of the situation.

It's like people who take pictures of their DC on the floor having fallen out of bed and post on FB 'oh bless, poor Timmy fell out of bed but he's still asleep on the floor lol'. Just pick your child up FFS.

I hope your DS is ok.

We took 7 week old DS1 to a&e when DP dropped him onto his carry cot. We we're assured that he was fine but to bring him straight back if he complained of a headache! We sat there nodding and thanking the DR at the time, it was only afterwards we actually thought 'how can a 7 week old complain he has a headache?!

Quick update for all you lovely women who helped us. Smile DS was perfectly fine, he woke up smiling and cooing like he always does. No bumps or marks and he's alert and as sweet as ever so once again, thank you. Smile
