Period delaying pills - is it now normal ...

...for young people to use these to delay their period so they can eg "swim while on holiday"? I'm pretty shocked to be assured this is now normal - (and of course taxpayer funded, as they are in education).

This is not a contraceptive. According to NHS choices, it is a pill available on the NHS to treat menstrual disorders, also used when treating some breast cancers.

Perhaps unsurprisingly its listed uses do not include "delaying your period to have a nicer holiday".

The reproductive health body setting standards for the NHS has produced new guidance to assure women the contraceptive pill can be taken every day of the month.

The Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare (FSRH) said there is no health benefit to a seven-day break while taking the combined contraceptive pill – a practice first introduced in the hope the Catholic Church would “accept” some form of contraception.

@Wood7 this is the second old thread you've dredged up and posted the same thing on. Go back to the first one for the advice you've been given there.

I used them for a holiday. It was my first holiday abroad and I wanted to enjoy it. I had such painful periods the pain made me vomit and/or pass out (thank you a million times to the go who eventually put me on the pill). I can’t use tampons due to a tilted cervix (One reason for the pains) as I always feel them.

Being a 14 year old in agony and having to wear pads in sweaty hot weather and not be able to swim would have been miserable so YABU, why shouldn’t I delay it and my parents paid a helluva lot of tax so I’m pretty sure that covered it🙄
