Please tell me am I being over sensitive??

I'm in the process of buying my first house and boyfriend (of 18 months) knew I was going to put in an offer on one I love this morning. I usually text him every morning (when I'm not with him of course) saying 'morning' but didn't today as I've been so nervous/ excited. Anyway my offer has just been accepted () and the bloody [removed at OPs request] hasn't even bothered to text me yet today asking how it's all gone. He KNEW I was going to put the offer in first thing and it's 11.37 and still no text. I am having extreme PMT which is causing me to be slightly over sensitive so am I being a crazy bitch or am I being reasonable in feeling slightly annoyed?

mrsgoogle the fact that you haven't heard it being used at work is not surprising. I have never heard it at work, in a call center. Because people know its an offensive word. I am glad they don't use it in your line of work.

You're too young, mrsgoogleland. When I was growing up in the 60s those sort of terms were common. The hurt they caused was indescribable; they were divisive and excluded whole sets of the population, when the idea of inclusivity was in its infancy and needed all the help it could get. Until then, people who were not neuro-typical were put into residential care, drugged up to the eyeballs to keep them manageable and quiet, and rarely seen.

Nigger was still common then too.

I am very glad they are words which are no longer used.

It is almost inconceivable to be upset in any way with somebody because they did not give you a phone call only you know you wanted, at a time only you know you wanted it.

PS: Fuckwit is used all the time. I use it, all my friends use it. It's a great word for describing fuckwits, a great word for calling each other because insulting your friends constantly is amusing, and is actually a really mild insult.

What's really insulting is comparing the use of mild insults like "fuckwit" in modern times to the actual N word. What the hell.

Was that to me, Claw? I wasn't comparing fuckwit to N. I was talking about words which were rife in the 60s but which became unacceptable as society woke up to how divisive and insulting they were - words like retard and spaz.

Fuckwit is just one word in it's own right and not a combination of anything. The other is a combination of fucking & retard not bastard. No one is comparing the word fuckwit to anything. Comparing the use of disabilist language to racist language is not insulting. The use of either is not acceptable. There is no such thing either a mild disabilist insult just as there is no such thing as a mildly racist insult
