to think that this outfit wouldn't be something that a "bunny girl" or "stripper" would wear.

Please be honest - because I have no desire to send dd to school dressed as either...

Tomorrow, dd's school has a dress-up day where all the kids are to dress smartly. DD, who doesn't do dresses, asked me if she could wear black leggings, white shirt and a bowtie.

Therefore, the outfit she is planning to wear is a new, long-sleeved white school shirt, a black bowtie and some normal black full-length leggings. She'll wear them with black, sensible, boots. She may wear a small adult size grey waistcoat that I bought from a charity shop today, providing it doesn't swamp her when she tries it on.

She described the outfit to her dad (my exH) on the phone last night, and he has sent me an email saying that he feels this is what bunny girls/strippers would wear and is therefore inappropriate.

I'm rather bemused, as it didn't occur to me for one second - and I still think that he is perhaps taking a somewhat unusual view on this...

Please could I have objective opinions - if you saw an 8 year old girl dressed in an outfit like this, would it make you think she was dressed inappropriately?

Thanks for your honest feedback.

I think the outfit was totally fine, even legging instead of trousers with the shirt would look nice. It's something my 7yo dd would wear and I suspect half of you would have had a heart attack at what my dd was wearing for dancing earlier : shiny dancing stirrup leggings and a crop top, so the outfit tight and short!

He's fine with the outfit now he's seen it - leggings and all. DD wears leggings all the time normally and it's never brought up as an issue - I think she must have just described it in a very strange way down the phone!

Wtf?! Has he ever seen a stripper/bunny girl?

Long sleeved white shirt.

Leggings.

Waistcoat.

None of those are even remotely stripperish.

The only even vaguely bunny thing about it is the bow tie, but given that it isn't being worn on a bare neck with a bodice by a busty blonde 20 something, it still isn't even anything near inappropriate.

Your ex sounds weird if that's the first thing that comes to mind when talking about your DD's dressing up outfit.
