Dog poo. Is my neighbour BU?

Over the past 3 weeks our neighbour has started to let their dogs poo on our shared driveway. I lifted and disposed of 5 massive poos from under our kitchen window last week, stood in a pile outside our back gate on Saturday and lifted and disposed of another 4 piles on Sunday as I couldn't bear to look at it any longer.

They recently got a new dog and I suspect it's the new dog doing it. They have an enormous back garden which is why I can't understand why they let them poo in the driveway!!! It's driving me mad as I don't want our DCs to step in it and it smells! I've just looked out and there's another massive pile outside our back gate. I really want to knock on their door and speak to them about it but DH says not to as we have no actual proof that it's their dog and they'll get all defensive and fall out with us. AIBU? What would you do?

Haven't spoken to them yet but have just shovelled up a massive pile which was sitting beside our bins covered in bluebottles (retch).

Mokun the likelihood of it not being their dog is remote.

I think PCSO would think I was time wasting if I phoned them but I'm definitely not involving a third party at this stage anyway. Bit OTT I think.

That is fecking disgusting!! It's foul enough when it's your own dog, but I just deal with it cos I love her, but someone else's?! God, have words with them (hope they are mortified).

VivaLeBeaver · 19/05/2015 17:58

Talk to them.

Ages ago my neighbours came round and asked if Id clean the dog poo up in my own back garden a bit more frequently. We have a massive garden and the dog poos down the bottom. I was being lazy and only clearing it up a couple of times a week.

We have a massive fence and neighbours couldn't see it but they have a summerhouse down the bottom of the garden and could smell it.

I was mortified and apologised and have cleaned it up at least every other day now. I hadn't thought it was a problem.

i would start a conversation with them while i was disinfecting the driveway with really stinky disinfectant

SoupDragon · 19/05/2015 18:52

Are you sure it isn't fox poo?

IKnowIAmButWhatAreYou · 19/05/2015 18:59

Just ask them and if it carries on just drop the poo on their side of the drive...

If it still carries on, start posting it to the dirty bastards....

SugarOnTop · 19/05/2015 19:06

Speak to them first, if they don't do anything about it and it continues then just chuck it back onto their doorstep/drive/garden. If it comes to that then it's probably the right time to get video evidence and involve warden/pcso.

It's definitely dog poo! Looks like it, smells like it!! I'm going to mention it tomorrow. Hopefully we can resolve this quickly and peacefully!

Having a word with the neighbour is okay, but be careful how you do it.

12 years ago it was our open-plan front gardens that was getting the dog poo. I was the only one on our road with a dog - a dog that only stepped over the threshhold on a lead. I was doing my share of picking up deposits that were left on my garden or on the pavement and it certainly wasn't my dog, but I was aware of the problem. I spotted the culprits one day (2 poodles from another cul-de-sac who apparently escaped whenever they opened their front door and were left to run around off lead for an hour or so each time).

One of my next door neighbours came round to my house on a Wednesday and started shouting about my filthy dog and threatening all sorts. I tried to explain about the poodles but could hardly get a word in edge-ways. I managed "It isn't my ....." and she said, "It is your dog. DD (14 yrs old) saw him doing it on our garden last Saturday".

I was literally gob-smacked! The whole family had just returned from a fortnight's holiday at our holiday home and I don't think he could have run 50 miles home just to poop on their garden. (And he couldn't be mistaken for a white poodle!)

But she turned on her heel in raging anger, shouting accusations over her shoulder and I was shaking at the onslaught. We have never spoken since which isn't pleasant for anyone.

I can see why you think it is the neighbour's new dog. But then I bet you can see why my next door neighbour thought it was my dog.

Well, yes, stories like yours, sadwidow, make it seem wise to make a polite query about the dog mess rather than going in all guns blazing, but I still think asking about it directly is the way to go.

I hope you can resolved it peacefully, Wineloffa.

@PYTT
Have you no afterschool club to go to if you are so bored?
