Has anyone else seen it in This Morning?

Two mothers talking about their Blinged up children/babies and explaining how their children wear designer clothes, have fake tans, wear perfume and prefer to have handbags and shoes over toys.

Apparently it's a waste of a girl not to dress her up Shock

The full documentary is on TV tonight and although part of me wants to watch it the other part of me can't bear the thought of seeing young babies and young girls being dressed and treated like the mother's fashion accessory Sad

I too find it vile and offensive. Girls being objectified and measured in terms of looks and clothes. How far have we really come?

foreverton · 19/05/2015 19:34

After an 8 year gap from ds, I had dd, am not particularly girly myself but expected I would dress dd head to toe in pink! 4 years on and she's at her happiest in her Barcelona or Everton football kit:)

She will wear a dress now and again but hates headbands etc.

I will probably watch the programme out of curiosity too.
Often these babies are an extension of the mum and are merely another accessory.

And yes, how do they afford it all? On the last episode last year, most of the mums were unemployed.

orangutanhihio · 19/05/2015 19:37

Yanbu, it is vile and I'd say it could be quite mentally abusive towards the children if they're being pressured and forced to conform with these extremes. I suspect they could end up with serious self image problems. Sad

flora717 · 19/05/2015 20:12

I think it is a very sad sign of a misogynistic parent. But, I'm strongly opinionated like that. I think ear piercing under teenage years is irresponsible and getting on for some form of mutilation.

Weathergames · 19/05/2015 21:04

Is this real? Hmm

bellybuttonfluffy · 19/05/2015 21:07

What on earth is this.

cosmicglittergirl · 19/05/2015 21:17

It's all very time consuming putting those massive dresses on.

LilQueenie · 19/05/2015 21:18

its horrible. women who dress their babies like this seem to think they are still playing dollies. Come to think of it I didnt dress my dolls like this and dont know anyone who did. Confused who knows what goes on in their heads.

Signlake · 19/05/2015 21:26

Earring scene was awful, poor baby. Also why on earth would you take your child to a playground to tell them off for playing and getting a scuff on their shoes? I much prefer my two to be getting covered in mud and having fun rather than looking perfect. It's not reasonable to expect perfection from children

Aeroflotgirl · 19/05/2015 21:32

I agree, it's very poor parenting, it's giving their girls the wrong messages, and not valuing themselves for who they are. Says it all when one of the mums said her dd wanted to be a Police woman, but worries hw she will cope with the 'dowdy' uniform. Lights are on but nobody is home, so rings to mind with these mothers.

Surely it's a choking hazard? All the little bits and pieces? Confused

dunkedbiscuits · 19/05/2015 21:37

I lasted 4mins into the programme before losing the will to live. Awful awful awful. I have actually gagged on my judgey pants.

PeachyPants · 19/05/2015 21:38

Just watching it now, those parent's have serious issues, the two blonde mums sound like they had very difficult childhoods, their own self esteem seems so tied up with their own appearances and by extension those of their children. It's all very sad.

StoryOfMyLife · 19/05/2015 21:38

It's awful. I think it's a shame the boys can wear practice clothes whereas the girls are in these huge dresses that are so awkward to play in.

MitzyLeFrouf · 19/05/2015 21:40

I'm surprised the blonde mum breast fed. That'll show me! These programmes do encourage you to make snap judgements based on a few carefully selected scenes.

Mother who didn't approve of her daughter getting scuffs on her trainers is tiresome.

PeachyPants · 19/05/2015 21:40

The 'Chanel' thing is very strange, they obviously aren't Chanel, I don't get designer fakes like this.

Aeroflotgirl · 19/05/2015 21:50

Calling a young child, sexy lady Shock. My judgy pants are strangling me.

Weathergames · 19/05/2015 21:53

The mum Candy saying she's not a pushy mum after bribing her unwilling daughter through a photo shoot.. Shock

OrlandoWoolf · 19/05/2015 22:08

I haven't watched it. I am assuming the boys weren't involved in this?

What did the other halves think? Or were they not involved either?

Weathergames · 19/05/2015 22:10

It was all single mums Hmm

OrlandoWoolf · 19/05/2015 22:13

I wonder if there are couples who do this but didn't want to get involved or that being a single mum has affected their views in some way?

No issues going on at all,are there?

ToysRLuv · 19/05/2015 22:17

Aarrgh! When does something like this actually border on mistreatment/abuse? Dousing very young children in a load of unnecessary cosmetics, not allowing child to play on playground and, above all, spouting sexist shit, ffs!!!!

ToysRLuv · 19/05/2015 22:20

Just saw the earring scenes.. wtf. Sad

FoulsomeAndMaggotwise · 19/05/2015 22:53

I actually felt like the very slim blonde mum was likeable, but had questionable views when it came to her daughter. It sort if made a weird sense to me though when she said she liked to dress them up because it helped her to cope with all the little challenges of her day (I'm paraphrasing).

The others were all awful though. Poor little girls don't stand a chance do they? I suppose they'll turn out just the same and will treat heir own daughters the same and so on and so on.
