Just that really. Am having small wedding, just family. Friend has few pieces that would fit in with wedding theme. We both are usually generous with each other. Would this be really cheeky?

PS they are bathroom ornaments for beach theme.

but you feel it's appropriate to tap her for her knick knacks
Grin

They are crabs Grin Grin

That's tickled me and cheered up an otherwise cheerless evening, thank you Smile

Ooh and just seen could you ask to hire them Grin that's just finished me off!

icelollycraving · 17/05/2015 22:00

Sue,I want to really show Jason how much I love him & make the wedding really special....now about your crabs Grin

icelollycraving · 17/05/2015 22:07

hermione I was almost afraid to look.

MagicMojito · 17/05/2015 22:08

Grin Grin Excellent thread OP.

Ignore the silly comments from previous posters, they're just jealous of your originality. EVERYONE loves a bride with crabs.

Coldcabbagestew · 17/05/2015 22:09

Wot the cow said!

I can't believe some of the grumpy posters on this thread. It is not as if the OP is asking her to organise the hen do.

AdeleDazeem · 17/05/2015 22:13

Nickers, what's wrong with a beach theme? Are people these days required to select their theme from the very limited menu of Vintage, Rustic, or Rustic Vintage? Or is it Vintage Rustic? Whatever it is, it involves tea lights and Mason jars and little bits of fluff and twee.

Good luck to you OP and your non Rustic themed wedding. Godspeed you beachy bride you. But do arrange your own crabs dear, it would be most unseemly to procure your wedding day crabs from your friends bathroom. Wink

Pagwatch · 17/05/2015 22:18

Most of the thread is just answering the ops question saying 'no, it would be rude'
Three or four posters were stupid about it and then Lighthouse became completely batshit having presumably suffered some home accessories rejection of her own .

So I don't thing the op has had a pasting or that there is quite the need for the 'god everyone before me was just sooo vile' stuff.

I wouldn't do it but lots would think it fine and Lighthouse is just really angry.

CorporationPop · 17/05/2015 22:28

Are you getting married to Spongebob Squarepants? Or Squidward?

Yellowbird54321 · 17/05/2015 22:47

Hm, it is possible you're actually being a bit shellfish here OP. sorry really tried, but in the end couldn't resist

Cabrinha · 18/05/2015 00:15

I am absolutely baffled why people think this is so awful!

It's a family only wedding. I'd be happy to lend them to a friend. Though I agree with the point that they could get damaged.

Beach theme lovely. Though I did snigger at crabs, sorry!

KPlunk · 18/05/2015 00:20

If the wedding is family only then I don't think it would be rude to ask.

Crabs are a bit fragile though so you would have to be certain they wouldn't get broken. they are also a bit creepy

Thanks for the great thread, it's perfect MN . Grin

myusernameisusername · 18/05/2015 00:24

B&M sell bathroom tat stuff along those line op Grin

sleeponeday · 18/05/2015 00:31

Blimey, this thread is heated. Over some ornamental crabs. Grin

Ebay, OP? You never know, someone else could be selling a whole ornamental seafood extravaganza, lightly used.

MidniteScribbler · 18/05/2015 00:49

I knew that Gluezilla's first marriage wouldn't last. She's back for round two!

Oi, TidyDancer. Your services as a decorator are needed again.

TendonQueen · 18/05/2015 01:02

I'm glad you're not getting crabby about this, OP.

Seriously, don't get the point of having a wedding that's so small you can't fit in someone like this who is clearly a very good friend. Crabs aside Grin, wouldn't you like her to be there, OP? How small is small?

BTW, are the crabs those ones with the googly eyes, as worn on the bibs provided by a shellfish restaurant Dorothy went to in the Golden Girls? (I know. I'll Google tomorrow...)

PeppermintCrayon · 18/05/2015 01:29

Am I the only one having flashbacks to the thread about the bride who kept pressuring the friend she hadn't invited to set up all her decorations?

SilverNightFairy · 18/05/2015 01:54

Never cared for crabs, lobsters are jolly though

Tigerstripes · 18/05/2015 02:07

I love a good wedding thread spiced up by crazy responses, was a bit disappointed by the OP being unseemly reasonable but then cheered up by the unexpectedly hilarious table setting. I'm not funny on a Monday morning (in Au) but some of you have certainly brightened up my work day. Brilliant.

MidniteScribbler · 18/05/2015 02:13

I had a friend who got crabs at a wedding once. I told him not to sleep with that bridesmaid.

lougle · 18/05/2015 06:38

I'm sure crabs aren't expensive, perhaps just buy some?

NewTwenty · 18/05/2015 07:03

I have a lovely stuffed crabby with a big smile and squidgy claws, but he is mine, all mine! Grin

But you might be able to buy similar from the London Aquarium?

A few years ago, an NCT friend was coming up to her wedding and we met every week. We talked about what she should wear, how the catering could be organised, I bought an accessory from my own wedding dress to show her...I was seriously expecting an invitation and felt a bit disappointed when it didn't come.

MeeWhoo · 18/05/2015 07:27

I just want to say, in the event that your friend does lend you the crabs, please remember they normally live in a bathroom, so don't place them anywhere near the food please.

FarFromAnyRoad · 18/05/2015 07:30

Get her in a pincer movement and pinch her crabs!

Catsahoy · 18/05/2015 07:36

Te he he! Crabs!
