To think 8pm is the cut off point for lawn mowing?

DH thinks 9pm is OK but I think that's too late. Yep these are arguments debates we have these days, our lives are that exciting. Anyhow what is the MN verdict?

9pm, like the watershed Wink

RightSideOfWrong · 11/05/2015 21:25

It's 10:30pm for "noisy lawn equipment" according to the council here.

In reality, nobody does it after 9pm.

Sounbelievablydull · 11/05/2015 21:28

Definitely 8 but 7 would be betterespecially at the weekend interferes with pre dinner drinks other wise. I need to enjoy my G and T in peace.

While we're about it what time is too early???

theendoftheendoftheend · 11/05/2015 21:28

I don't know but I love the sound of mowers, especially when going to sleep!

Charlotte3333 · 11/05/2015 21:32

I think 9pm. DS2 loves white noise and flatly refused to sleep when he was tiny. DH used to take him into our garage, get out the mower, mow the lawn with him in the sling and get the little bugger to sleep. That mower saved my sanity. Our neighbours eventually realised what was going on and would let DH do their lawns, too. They clearly think we're batshit. Least of our batshit issues, that.

Week days, mow your heart out.

Mowing on weekends should be banned.

ChucksAhoy · 11/05/2015 21:35

My next door neighbour used to mow his front lawn at 7am - whilst dressed as Elvis...

DorothyL · 11/05/2015 21:38

My neighbour is mowing right now Confused

susiedaisy · 11/05/2015 21:41

Anything before 9am or after 9pm is unsociable IMO

WhirlpoolGalaxyM51 · 11/05/2015 21:43

I'd say 9pm as well.

NCTimeAgain · 11/05/2015 21:44

Whenever it's light enough to see in the evening. Mornings-not before 8.

QueenBean · 11/05/2015 21:45

I love the sound of a lawn mower in the evening, it really sounds like summer to me

In the morning, be prepared for death if you wake me up mowing the lawn

Passthecake30 · 11/05/2015 21:48

8pm or the kids won't sleep. I remember laying in bed as a child wishing it would stop!

We find it hard as dp works Saturdays and no one seems to make a peep around here on Sundays. ..so are currently sporting a wild garden.

msgrinch · 11/05/2015 21:50

9/9.30pm

BeaufortBelle · 11/05/2015 21:54

It depends on the size of the gardens. I think up to 9pm ish is fine. I love sitting in the garden and smelling freshly mown grass. I find it quite soothing.

IgnoreMeEveryOtherReindeerDoes · 11/05/2015 21:56

I'm going to be grumpy and say 7.30pm. My previous neighbours used to start at 8.30pm with the strimmer wouldn't mind but they was in everyday all fucking day.

JanetSnakehole · 11/05/2015 22:00

One morning last week my neighbor started moving at 6:45. I was not impressed.

wobblebobblehat · 11/05/2015 22:03

9pm but our lawn takes about 5 minutes so I would mow up to 10pm if I could still see.

Are you an old gimmer? You sound like it... Grin

Janethegirl · 11/05/2015 22:41

In the evening until it's too dark to see (can always turn on flood lights if necessary though!)
Not before 6 am in the morning, though I have cut grass at 4:30 am before now Grin

Jemimapuddlemuck · 11/05/2015 23:11

No I'm not an old gimmer Blush I'm thinking of people with little kids getting them to sleep mainly. I remember when DD was a little baby I'd have cheerfully strangled anyone who woke her up after an hour of rocking and shushing! DS could sleep through the apocalypse so it's never been an issue.

9pm

Wantsunshine · 11/05/2015 23:27

As long as it's light in the evening so up to nearly 10 and not before 8 in the morning

yummumto3girls · 11/05/2015 23:27

I think 8pm, our neighbours once were outside DD's window with two petrol mowers at 10.30pm, one very upset DD who couldn't sleep, was not impressed!!

LAGWAFIS · 11/05/2015 23:42

If you're out at work all day, and it rains for 3 consecutive weekends then a dry evening is fair game

I say that safe in the knowledge that my children will sleep through anything

brusselsproutwarning · 11/05/2015 23:45

7pm. Any later I'd go nuts as Kids hate the noise of them.
