Ex Lib-Dem voter and I will probably be voting Green even though they haven't a hope in hell of getting in where I live. There are no parties that represent me 100% and I feel like the Greens are offering a lot of fresh polices (as well as quite a few crazy ones) but I am ready for change.

Erudite · 06/05/2015 15:45

How anyone with any hint of social conscience can even think of voting for them is beyond me.

It's okay - we don't have one. I'm reading this whilst torturing kittens and getting the unemployed to feed me peeled grapes.

niceupthedance · 06/05/2015 15:49

A vote for the greens here

Varya · 06/05/2015 15:49

Unimpressed by major parties so will vote for Dr Louise Irvine who is a local champion for the NHS.

UnoPan · 06/05/2015 15:50

IF I were in a National Health Party seat then I'd be voting them.

Mousefinkle · 06/05/2015 15:51

DH and I tactically voting Labour. Ex lib dem voters, no way would we go there again. Green's are too idealistic so red Ed it is.

fiveacres · 06/05/2015 15:51

Grin erudite

Lottapianos · 06/05/2015 15:52

'Lottapianos - I agree but sadly a lot of people confuse pure self-interest with 'what's good for the country'

It's true. And the media have done a fantastic job of demonising poor people and immigrants so the Tories 'tough on benefits' crap plays beautifully with many. I'm not a bleeding heart - I live in East London and I'm telling you the place is bursting at the seams. There are far too many people, it doesn't matter to me where they have come from, there are just far too many of them. Public services are not coping and cannot be stretched any further. Labour's promise that everyone will have access to a GP within 48 hours is just utter pie in the sky - they might as well promise me champagne on tap and a night with Benedict Cumberbatch.

But I'm still taking a punt on them, partly because I have faith in what Ed could achieve as PM, I think he actually has a heart and gives a fig about other people and wants to make the country a better place. That may make me very naive but I think you have to hope, you have to believe that things can get better. And I cannot wait to see the back of this 'heartless shower of fucking puppy killers' (thank you Malcolm Tucker Smile)

I have a good friend who is a very kind person and works for the NHS in a clinical role. She votes Tory and thinks that Boris Johnson is hilarious Hmm And she reads the Daily Mail Shock We have just had to stop talking about politics because I get so annoyed and depressed at how an intelligent, lovely person can be so dim.

Ok I need to stop now before I burst into tears Grin

OnlyLovers · 06/05/2015 15:52

Labour all the way. I live in a very safe Labour seat anyway, but I feel like every vote counts this time more than ever before. [scared]

I hope Clegg loses his seat too and whoever wins tries to brazen out a minority government.

Lottapianos · 06/05/2015 15:53

OK Erudite, I'll bite...... please tell me why you are planning to vote Tory because I honestly do not understand. I won't have a go at you or call you names, I promise!

piddlemakesmegiggle · 06/05/2015 15:56

Undecided. Live in a safe Plaid seat but the standing councillor voted to close all the local schools down. Labour have wrecked the NHS in Wales. Greens don't stand a chance but would have my vote if I were in England. Lib Dem - do me a favour :) UKIP - I have a gay son, am not racist nor an idiot so that's them out. And I would rather die than ever vote Tory again - which if they have their way punishing the sick and disabled, I may well do. I believed Cameron when he said he would look after the carers last time. All he has done is make my life 10 times harder.
So it looks like Independent, she has done a hell of a lot on the local council. Hoping for a Labour/Plaid/SNP/Green coalition overall.

MarjorieWinklepicker · 06/05/2015 15:58

Labour for me and for DH (who usually votes LibDem).

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 06/05/2015 15:59

2 x conservative votes here

queencori · 06/05/2015 15:59

Labour,
As they are more likely to to protect vulnerable people if cuts are still to be made.I work i. the piblic sector , i see first hand the effect drastic budget restrctions have on life of older people and those with disabilites.

addstudentdinners2 · 06/05/2015 16:00

lotta I'm guessing, but think the general answer to your question is that 'labour screwed the economy'.

I have seen several Tory voters on MN and that seems to be the gist of their argument. Never mind the Tories screwed the sick, the disabled and basically anyone not in their rich boy's club.

shrunkenhead · 06/05/2015 16:06

Green.

ilovesooty · 06/05/2015 16:07

Postal vote for Labour. I would have voted Green if it had been sensible in my constituency but if all socialists here voted Green it would let the Tories in. I expect the UKIP vote to increase (largely white British population with some fervent BNP support in the past) but I think my MP will increase his majority (though he's not wildly popular on a personal level)

CaptainAnkles · 06/05/2015 16:07

Yep. So sick of seeing that crap about Labour managing to cause the entire planet's financial fuck up. How exactly did one party in one country do that?
The current government's vile policies have not affected me so far personally, but I want them gone because it is hurting other people. Tory voters are only bothered about themselves being okay.

UnoPan · 06/05/2015 16:08

A bit surprised that "Labour screws up the economy" sound-bite still has any legs at all. With driving down living standards in the 6th richest nation on the planet not being evidence of economic malpractice it suggests IF yo usay it often enough then it becomes a truth. (with no-one actually checking the facts)

OOAOML · 06/05/2015 16:10

Labour for me, my husband is choosing between Green and SNP. He's not going to tell me (this is probably just as well, political discussions get a bit fraught in our household).

To the person in hospital - I'm pretty sure that you can get an emergency proxy on the day for a situation like that? Should be something on your council website.

hollybananas · 06/05/2015 16:14

Two Labours here for GE, voting Green in the locals.

addstudentdinners2 · 06/05/2015 16:14

I know, but that is the daft argument I see going round the houses - ie, 'how could you vote Labour, they ruined this country/the economy etc etc'

I am not a Tony Blair fan for many reasons, but Ed Miliband is not Tony Blair.

Plus I would frankly rather vote for the BNP than vote Tory.

ollieplimsoles · 06/05/2015 16:15

Out of interest are any home educators voting Labour? After the Badman review I don't want Ed Balls anywhere near parliament.

My Local MP actively spoke out against it and continues to be a great supporter for HE familes,

Thats why I vote Tory.

queensansastark · 06/05/2015 16:19

IMO Labour also screwed up on immigration, Iraq, multiculturalism, and generally pissed tax payers hard earned money up the wall during their last government. They say they are for the working people and I don't know whether to laugh or cry, as my experience up to 2010 as I recall was that we were living pay cheque to pay cheque each month and being punitively taxed to bail out bankers and pay others pensions while not being able to afford to put away enough for our own pensions. When they say they will tax the rich, I think they mean ordinary professionals who get caught in the higher rate tax band.

OnlyLovers · 06/05/2015 16:21

They've admitted to getting the numbers wrong on immigration. Iraq was one man's foolish decision – and Ed Miliband stood up to Cameron on Syria recently in a similar scenario.

The Tories have borrowed more in 5 years than the last Labour lot did in 13.

sherbetlemonD · 06/05/2015 16:24

I'm still undecided- but as a friend pointed out: the Conservatives had a big mess to sort out when they came into power. While they have irked me with some of the things they have done the past 5 years- part of me does think maybe they deserve another chance? Would be interested to hear peoples view on that..

With that said- i'm starting to lean towards Labour.
