Vote SNP, get Tory

Nicola Sturgeon has shown herself to be a charismatic politican who, understandably, is drawing a lot of support. But is she really going to get a chance to influence the next government?

The Conservatives are already declaring themselves the winners, if they get the most seats which the current polls are just giving them. The relationship between Cameron and Clegg is seamless. And, perhaps strongest of all, the SNP have the same media backers as the Conservatives. Why would that be?

Is it better to have Nicola Sturgeon as a heckler a long way from Westminster or to change the current government and have a strong representation of the SNP at Scottish level?

Comrade Nickolai Sturgeon does not represent me and I certainly won't be voting for a party who wanted to do away with corroboration, who have decided to appoint state guardians for children (a charter for paedeophiles, I've seen too many state cover up about child abuse), underspent in referendum year then blamed westminster for austerity, underspent on the NHS in Scotland, don't allow party members to openly criticise the party, to name but a few things. Unfortunately, too many people just listen to "get the Tories out" and don't actually question the SNP

OneNight · 07/05/2015 11:04

I'm sorry that I didn't make myself more clear.

Children can be little toads at times and despite the best efforts of educators they seem to find out things about other children. That boy's family could probably have acquired a FSM ticket for him but that wouldn't have prevented the other children's laughter. By providing universal FSM you simply take food out of the equation at school.

The food would have to be paid for of course and that is where the notion of redistributive policies comes in as a PP mentioned.

tabulahrasa · 07/05/2015 11:27

It wasn't needed - schools had a variety of very succesful systems that meant that children had no idea who was receiving FSMs. (usually a simplified version of a cashless system)

Primary school is where there is less of an issue with that anyway and in secondary where it can be a problem, most schools now use cashless systems anyway.

I'd rather the money (there's no way means testing costs the same) went where it was more useful.

trixymalixy · 07/05/2015 13:32

funnily enough, i wasn’t really up for a debate after midnight, i was on my way to bed Hmm.

It's not really hard to see that if they were to pick the optimum conditions to get a yes vote that a conservative government in Westminster would be part of that.

Nicola has talked before about an eu out vote triggering another Scottish referendum, an eu referendum will happen under a conservative government.

Let's face it the SNP aren't going to be that disappointed with a Conservative government, although would never admit it in public. It suits their agenda It's startlingly obvious to quote a previous poster.

blowinahoolie · 07/05/2015 20:08

The Ajockacalypse is coming, folks....

Lullabullacoo · 07/05/2015 20:41

Re school meals - the Lib Dems introduced it in England first - SNP stole their idea.
And at our school no one knows who is & isn't getting FSM. There is no voucher etc.

Lullabullacoo · 07/05/2015 20:44

I would rather they kept breakfast clubs. I am a single mum on crap income but I am happy to pay for my son's lunches. Keep money for those who really cannot afford it.
Literacy rates are falling sharply - thanks SNP! New CfE is doing no good

OneNight · 07/05/2015 20:48

They know I'm afraid Lullabullacoo. I have no idea how they do it but children gossip and assess as much as adults so by the second or third day they usually have information about their classmates despite the best efforts of teaching and other school staff.

Brandysnapper · 07/05/2015 21:27

By what meaurement do we know that literacy rates are falling since new system came in?

blowinahoolie · 07/05/2015 21:54

Nicola Sturgeon has admitted they need to do better with the literacy levels since CforE when Davidson broached that subject on FMQs yesterday. She did acknowledge it isn't good enough and wants to improve things.

OneNight · 07/05/2015 21:57

The problem is that she nearly always wants to do things rather than actually doing them: that is not a new government.

BakewellSlice · 08/05/2015 02:18

There was a report out last week on literacy levels.

CrystalCove · 08/05/2015 04:10

Well going by the exit poll the reason the Tories will probably be in Government will be because of the amount of English people voting for them and not Labour.

BakewellSlice · 08/05/2015 04:13

And also the demise of the Lib Dems - killed by coalition.

MoDhachaidh · 08/05/2015 04:24

Lib Dem, lucky if one in Scotland.
Tories...None in Scotland
Labour...None in Scotland.

Scotland... Scotland...

Scotland may just rule Scotland.
& you want to argue?

CrystalCove · 08/05/2015 04:24

Yes that's true.

MoDhachaidh · 08/05/2015 04:25

Thanks for that...

MoDhachaidh · 08/05/2015 04:29

edinburgh south ... labour

MoDhachaidh · 08/05/2015 04:30

Labou may have one...

MoDhachaidh · 08/05/2015 04:32

Labou, laba, Labat

Labour... well done.

CrystalCove · 08/05/2015 04:46

Well there won't be much competition for the job of Scottish a Labour Leader.

CrystalCove · 08/05/2015 04:53

I was referring to Bakewells comment btw.
