Vote SNP, get Tory

Nicola Sturgeon has shown herself to be a charismatic politican who, understandably, is drawing a lot of support. But is she really going to get a chance to influence the next government?

The Conservatives are already declaring themselves the winners, if they get the most seats which the current polls are just giving them. The relationship between Cameron and Clegg is seamless. And, perhaps strongest of all, the SNP have the same media backers as the Conservatives. Why would that be?

Is it better to have Nicola Sturgeon as a heckler a long way from Westminster or to change the current government and have a strong representation of the SNP at Scottish level?

That is absolutely not the way SNP has conducted themselves. They would never have gained support they have on the international stage if they had.
The fact is their history of honest negotiation speaks volumes.
Stop making it up fgs!

YNK · 06/05/2015 23:40

Yes, I'm here!

JohnCusacksWife · 06/05/2015 23:42

Yak, have no IDE what you're trying to say! One minute you're in England, the next you're in Scotland....which is it?

JohnCusacksWife · 06/05/2015 23:42

Bloody IPad typos!!

YNK · 06/05/2015 23:43

Fucking here! HERE! Can you hear me?

JohnCusacksWife · 06/05/2015 23:50

Obfuscation & avoidance. You are an SNP supporter, aren't you...

trixymalixy · 06/05/2015 23:53

We all know it suits the SNP and their fanatics just fine to have a conservative government. It suits their narrative of Scotland not getting who they vote for and their hope that a conservative government means an eu referendum and then another independence referendum. Independence no matter what the cost.

YNK · 06/05/2015 23:54

I'm interested in what they say. I have no membership or affiliation to any party.
I'm flattered to be of interest to you but I have no political affiliation.

JohnCusacksWife · 06/05/2015 23:56

Independence no matter what the cost

This is what the SNP are all about. No more, no less, no matter what they say.

YNK · 06/05/2015 23:57

Trixy I think that analysis must have elements of your personal projection.
It has no basis in the real world.
Scotland is not a nation of victims, I can assure you.

trixymalixy · 07/05/2015 00:01

open your eyes YNK.

Frecklefeatures · 07/05/2015 00:02

Vote SNP get SNP as a strong voice in Westminster. Vote Labour get a party who have ignored their traditional voters in Scotland. If anyone thinks Labour are going to look after Scotland ' s interests at the risk of alienating their English voters they are sadly mistaken.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 07/05/2015 00:03

Why are the unionists on these threads always so negative and bitter?

Let's just hope the polls are as accurate about this election as they were the referendum. Roll on Friday and let's hope the sniping stops for a few years....

JohnCusacksWife · 07/05/2015 00:04

To be honest the sooner we can forget Scottish/English and just pull together as one nation the better we'd all get on.

YNK · 07/05/2015 00:04

Where do you suggest I look?
Is that your debate with me Trixi?

OneNight · 07/05/2015 00:05

Unfortunately what they may say doesn't translate to positive action on the ground given that this is a party that has been in government in Scotland for 7 years or so and that has very substantial devolved powers over most aspects of day to day living in Scotland.

If you are truly interested in what they say YNK ask them about their plans to increase our electricity base load capacity following the closure of Longannet, hopefully not requiring coal with its Co2 emissions. I doubt you'll get an answer.

JohnCusacksWife · 07/05/2015 00:06

I'm very positive about my country, ItsAll. But i do admit to being negative about those trying to destroy it.

YNK · 07/05/2015 00:14

Wtf is trying to destroy anything?
You are being ridiculous!

Lullabullacoo · 07/05/2015 00:24

YNK we have a fantastic Labour MP in my constituency who is proactive and approachable. The SNP are fielding a candidate who does not live in our constituency and has only been in our town to open a campaign office.elsewhere the SNP have put up a 20 yr old student against Douglas Alexander. FFS what life experience can she bring to a highly important job? Oh yes, she is very vocal on Twitter about putting the nut on Labour councillors...definitely someone who will be a reliable quality MP.
As for swiftly dealing with troublemakers in the party I believe they denied the morons in Glasgow weren't - until they found pictures of them. How do you explain the intimidation of people at another rally where SNP members were taking photos of those attending? Or those stalking Margaret Curran when she was door stepping constituents? Or those who leave the most appalling abuse on Labour MPs FB pages (see Jim Murphy). It is utterly appalling behaviour and has nothing to do with democracy.

JohnCusacksWife · 07/05/2015 00:31

Lullabullacoo, would that be the same 20 yr old who was slagging off Douglas Alexander for being a "career politician" when she's currently a final yr student and is planning to make a career in, er, politics?

YNK · 07/05/2015 00:39

I don't see anyone condoning bad behaviour, do you?

OneNight · 07/05/2015 00:44

Nicola Sturgeon didn't sack Neil Hay YNK and I can not imagine Donald Dewar allowing that man even across the door of a room he was in.

Lullabullacoo · 07/05/2015 01:00

Exactly JC's wife! At least he graduated before he became a politician. Quite right about Neil Hay. The rhetoric from Alex Salmond is appalling - all he does is stir up problems. But NS would be too scared to say anything to him.
What bugs me is that she won't be in Westminster so how can she be leading the campaign? And the whole policy of having to stick to the party line. I want an MP that follows their constituents' needs not their parties.

YNK · 07/05/2015 01:00

No one advocates for or indeed benefits from bad behaviour anywhere. There is a democratic process that's much more effective.
Unfortunately sometimes people misbehave.

OneNight · 07/05/2015 01:15

Indeed no one advocates for or benefits from bad behaviour but that surely doesn't mean that you should associate with such people? Dewar would have had that man out of the party faster than his backside could count the nails and I find it interesting that Nicola Sturgeon side stepped the issue by intoning that 'the electorate will decide' or whatever precise wording she used.

'By their deeds shall ye know them'.
