to not care about the royal baby?

Apologies if there's already a thread on this (I can't find one) but why do people care about this? My facebook page is full of people thinking it's great news and I just don't get it. Just another royal parasite in my view.

I am not a royalist, but she knew she was coming out to face the world's cameras. I would do whatever it took to not be on the front page of the nation's press looking like a bag of shite. She is a human being who just had a baby. I can remember what that was like.

coconutpie · 04/05/2015 21:12

Oh for goodness sake. Calling Catherine a narcissist because she got her hair and make up done is just ridiculous. Most women don't care about their appearance after birth because nobody is gonna be plastering their photograph on the front page of newspapers all over the world. She's not gonna come out looking all disheveled and why should she? If she wants to look well, then that's her decision. Jees, the amount of begrudgery is stupid.

fatlazymummy · 04/05/2015 21:16

I don't really get the criticism about the hairdresser. It would be normal to get sweaty during labour, it would be nice to have a wash and blowdry afterwards to freshen up. If you can afford to pay someone to do it, then why not?
In any case, Princess Diana certainly did the same, especially after Harry's birth.

PurpleDaisies · 04/05/2015 21:21

In response to the person who replied to me by asking whether I would be prepared to face the cameras without having my hair and makeup done - I can honestly say that no one I know has ever cared about how they look in the first few hours after giving birth.

That was me. You can say you wouldn't care if a picture of you looking like death was on the front of every newspaper all you want but I bet you're in the minority. How does your hair done make you a narcissist? Newborns don't exactly do a lot. The baby could have been asleep or being held or fed while the hair and make up were being done.

I think she's having children to cement her place in the royal family, rather than for the genuine desire to be a mum. Fake, fake, fake.

Mean, mean, mean.

YANBU

Would much rather our taxes went towards other things than Kate's blow dry. Just extremely disinterested.

Topseyt · 04/05/2015 21:57

I'm just trying to imagine the public reaction if Kate had emerged from the hospital with matted and unbrushed hair looking as though she ha just been dragged through a hedge backwards.

Perhaps then those who are criticising her now would be saying "with all the taxpayers' money she gets why can't she even try to look decent"??

Newborn babies aren't parasites. Stupid, ridiculous comment.

applecatchers36 · 04/05/2015 22:11

When I left hospital my hair wasn't matted and unbrushed as I was able to have a shower & use a comb, presumably Kate is able to do both of these things...

And yes when lots of families are homeless, using food banks and the NHS being privatised , the Lindo wing & the stylists seem in poor taste.
