to not care about the royal baby?

Apologies if there's already a thread on this (I can't find one) but why do people care about this? My facebook page is full of people thinking it's great news and I just don't get it. Just another royal parasite in my view.

OP posts:
OrlandoWoolf · 03/05/2015 16:49

The Royal Family are parasites - living off the goodwill of "their people" to keep them in their privileged position.

This baby is not a parasite. But she has been born into an institution that needs to maintain its privileged position and popular support.

CindyEcstacy · 03/05/2015 16:50

I'm no Royalist by a long chalk but I do like to pop up on these threads and remind people that the Royal Family earn the taxpayer far, far more than what they cost.....

usualsuspect333 · 03/05/2015 16:50

At least she had him on a Saturday and I didn't have to miss Emmerdale and stare at that fucking door for 4 hours instead.

WhetherOrNot · 03/05/2015 16:50

You don't care so much you posted here. You don't care so much that you use the word parasite.

A 'parasite' born into one of the richest families in England? There's plenty more you could pick on - not a day old baby. You are not nice.

OrlandoWoolf · 03/05/2015 16:50

through

Princess Alexandra?

I'm sure she has more names than that but I'm not interested.

MangoJuggler · 03/05/2015 16:51

Laugh at my joke you rotters!

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 03/05/2015 16:52

Well Carla's post says more about her that she is happy to use such a negative word about a newborn.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 03/05/2015 16:52

orlando are you psychic (or Kate?). I can't find that info.

ItsAllKickingOffPru · 03/05/2015 16:53

Grin Mango

OrlandoWoolf · 03/05/2015 16:54

I saw a thread title on Chat.

Princess Alexandra

I assumed that was the name.Unless people are posting random threads for each name. Then that's just bizarre given there are loads of Royal baby name threads already

Or it's about Princess Alexandra

usualsuspect333 · 03/05/2015 16:54

Why do Mnetters turn into gushing Royalists whenever summat royal related happens?

It's very odd.

OrlandoWoolf · 03/05/2015 16:56

It's very odd

I can't get over how someone can get so excited and gushing when a complete stranger has a baby.

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 03/05/2015 16:57

I'm no royalist but I don't feel the rage that appears to consume others when a royal event occurs, I love Liz and Phil the Greek!

Having said that I loathe Andrew, he is a massive twat.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 03/05/2015 16:57

orlando don't believe everything you read on MN.

ItsAllKickingOffPru · 03/05/2015 16:57

Oh Lordy, Orlando, don't give them ideas. They'd squeee themselves shitless if they happened to post the correct name by some fluke.

OrlandoWoolf · 03/05/2015 16:58

stillsaying

The rage comes from the entire obsession, gushing and sycophancy (especially in the media) about a privileged family in an undemocratic institution.

eyebags63 · 03/05/2015 16:59

YANBU. The media frenzy surrounding the RF is just nauseating

Shinytortoise24 · 03/05/2015 16:59

Will we ever have a referendum on becoming a republic?

Sparklingbrook · 03/05/2015 17:00

I want to know how many of those loons superfans were MNetters. One of them said it was an extension of their own family. I bet they don't camp outside the hospital when their own family have a baby.

I am not a royalist. I watched the doors for a bit yesterday, she had the baby and went home. Great. Best result there could be.

PurpleDaisies · 03/05/2015 17:00

I agree orlando. It reminds me of The Truman Show in that the royals are there to be shown off to keep the masses entertained. I feel really sorry for any kid born into that environment.

OrlandoWoolf · 03/05/2015 17:03

This.

And they are not an asset to bring money in. They are "real" people who have every right like other people to have a normal life. But are expected to do their duty.

PurpleDaisies · 03/05/2015 17:04

I hope so. Charles is the best argument for a republic so when the queen goes maybe we might get one then? It is totally undemocratic and I think there are more of us republicans out there nowadays. I don't get the impression the younger generation are particularly royalist so you never know what might happen.

KateReddy · 03/05/2015 17:04

No one is going to shout at you for being disinterested Hmm
I'm certainly not disinterested but am extremely uninterested.
YANBU OP, thank goodness it happened on a Bank holiday weekend. Smile

NotYouNaanBread · 03/05/2015 17:04

There hasn't been a whisper on my FB about it (predominantly British friends).

You care enough to post on Mumsnet about it, and quite meanly too. I am anti-monarchy, but I still think that babies = great, although that might be because I have an elaborate (or maybe not so elaborate) theory that William is planning to reform the monarchy & cut ties with the traditional set-up in favour of the more "middle class" arrangement in Norway (I think?). It's not quite abolition of the monarchy, but it could help in phasing it out, which might be easier anyway.

*completely missing the point of the OP...

OrlandoWoolf · 03/05/2015 17:06

The only FB update was from the local radio. It said how amazing Kate looked. That is sycophantic.
